U.S.S. TITAN -- THE WINNER!

Sean, couple of questions for you:

1) How many decks did you envision for the Titan?
2) How many phaser arrays did you design for it?

That is pretty much it for me. Your design is awesome, and I can't wait to see more of it!

Not exactly. Certainly those were on walls whose curvature was pretty long and low, but they weren't quite on the floor the way the ones on Titan's saucer underside appear to be. The windows on the flattest parts of the Galaxy-class saucer are in cutouts recessed into the hull.

Stardrive section, the windows are very clearly on the bottom.

Since most of those are on a curve on the underbelly of the saucer-section, I don't think those are meant for walking on.

I imagine those are like the windows we saw in Picard's quarters, just upside down.

Exactly. I believe the idea was that the window component of the big crew-quarters set could be flipped over to represent a room on the underside of the saucer. I'm not sure if that was ever done, though.

Update 3.25.07 From Trekweb interview with
Geoffrey Thorne on Upcoming Star Trek Titan Novel

Q : What are your feelings about the Titan starship design by Sean Tourangeau and the Sword of Damocles cover art by Ellery O'Connell ?

My feelings about Sean's design can be summed up in one word. GENIUS. There was some groussing about his design from some quarters just after the contest was over but, for me, this is the only way TITAN could have looked. Sean got the era of design right, I think he incorporated the Luna class mission of pure exploration perfectly. Wouldn't change a thing. The cover is equally stellar. And I may have a surprise or two for Sean in SWORD OF DAMOCLES as well. I hope he'll forgive any dings to the hull.

*Note it is Ellery Connel on O'Connell a trekweb keep putting it.

When will she be done? Feels like forever! :p

I wanna treat my eyes to the final product already. She's a lot nicer with each WIP I see.

it is totally up to Ellery. He has been busy with work on his master's degree, and getting ready to move to a new job.
On top of that he has a new baby on the way.

Do you look forward to the Titan getting a few scrapes in the upcoming novel Sean? That interview was quite interesting to say the least.

^ Not to put too fine a point on it, but Troi didn't crash the ship. The ship was going to crash no matter what. Troi managed to land the ship in such a way that nobody died. This is a major accomplishment.

Hear, hear! I am so sick of this stupid "Don't let Troi drive" joke. It's insulting to the character and it smacks of antediluvian sexism about women drivers.

True, I'm sure in the real Navy there is women steering the various ships they have in their fleet. I don't know about an carrier but still, who knows. I just think everyone just likes to bash on Troi since they think she was the one that crashed the E-D's saucer in the first place. Oh well...

It was just a freaking joke. I am not degrading Troi. Infact she is one of my fovorite characters.

Don't be so serious.

If you're feeling bad about Christopher's post, don't. It's just not a complete day until somebody on the TrekBBS has been corrected by him!
