So why are there only FOUR ships (G, H, I, J) launched in twice the amount of time? Obviously, this is something of a moot point since that timeline never comes about, but it does seem funny.
You forgot "F". Anyway, maybe the later versions of the ship have longer lifespans; the ENT-D was very young when she was destroyed. Alternatively, maybe they will decide to let the name lie fallow for a while. There's a not inconsiderable amount of time between the loss of the ENT-C at Narenda and the launch of the ENT-D.
But was the ENT-J from "Azati Prime" an alternate timeline? My impression of what Daniels said was that the Sphere Builders had foreseen that they would lose the battle involving the ENT-J to the Federation, which is why they went back in time to try and prevent it from being founded in the first place. If Archer hadn't succeeded, then there would have been no Federation, and certainly no Enterprise, for the Sphere Builders to fight in the 26th century.
