U.S.S. TITAN -- THE WINNER!

Congrats Sean. Can't wait to see more detailed pics.

Hey Marco, How about dropping Sean's name in a novel as being part of the design team? I can't quite remember what Ra-Havreii's position was on that team, maybe his superior if there's no conflict???

I just noticed a couple of typos:

"Planitia" is with an "i," not an "e".

"McCormack" gets an "a," not an "i"

Yeesh, now I know how your authors feel. ;)

Anyway, that was something I just threw together a few minutes after finishing Red King and after I remembered that post I quoted. I used a Photoshop PSD file that someone in the Starfleet Command/Bridge Commander community came up with, but the original link I found it out isn't working anymore. Should be fixed now.

I had based the layout I did for the one below, based on the one on the Enterprise-E, which is why it doesn't totally match up with what was in Red King.

love the look of the ship, and if the stories are what ive heard then the titan series will be next in line, as soon as i've finished drudging thru Enemy of My Enemy

ive also got articles, gotta read that first of course too, but no fear, just 3 chapters left in golden's masterpiece

^I think it's a safe bet that we'll work that in somewhere. Gotta get Masao's name into a Vanguard novel, too. :)
Yes!!! I'd like that.

By the way, Sean, congrats on the win!

Hi there all.  I did the designs for the Titan,

And a lovely thing she is, too.
I think I gush about it somewhere back on page one, but t o recap: Excellent design; wonderful display of discipined creativity within the confines of an art form.

Welcome to the board, by the way. I'm more of a lurker now in my old age, but this is as civil a bunch of loonies as you're likely to find on the web.

Mind you, they can't agree on the color of an orange....

Since Sean is the Designer of the Luna Class Starship, maybe he can have a namecheck in a future novel as a Luna Class Captain, maybe the Luna itself?

I put the Catamarans there to protect the Bridge. I have never liked how easy of a target that the bridge seems to be. so I incorporated the that into the
saucer.
This does help explain it somewhat, but you are only protected from two sides. I think you're pretty screwed if your shields fail in a fight anyway, at least based on what we've seen in previous series and movies.

If you notice the primary hull now protects the shuttle bay hanger from enemy fire. I added strips as guides for the shuttles on there way in. Not necessarily for long take offs.
Same issue as with the bridge, you're only protected from the sides and the position you're vulveranle from seems to also be a gap in your firing arc.

I'm confused about this. It's a mistake to give those areas of Titan a little more protection than they enjoy on other ships? You're saying it's either all or nothing? Or have I misunderstood?

Space is 3 dimesonal, any gap in protection will become a target.

The bridge design on Starfleet ships is poor anyway, such an easy target to destroy, this weakness was exposed in a recent novel where the Command Staff were sucked into space. Two novels in fact.

The bridge should be in the centre of the ship.

Most Starfleet ships are designed for multiple tasks and are not optimized for combat. Only their tech edge allows their ships to hold their own against most Alpha and Beta Quadrant aggressors. Strip that tech edge away and Starfleet would drop like flies.

Also in ENTs Twilight and Star Trek: Nemesis

I think it's ugly. I guess I was expecting something a bit more classic. Oh, well.

Such as? If you're going to be that dismissive, at least detail what you would have prefered.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

I don't like the design either. I would've preferred something more sleek and streamlined ala the Enterprise-E but alas.

When I first saw it I liked it. Looking at it further it is fast becoming one of my favorite designs. The down swept nacelles and the pod put me in mind of the Nebula and the secondary hull has great Intrpid feel. Since those are my favorite ships I'm fast falling in love with this ship. (Will my girlfriend mind if I say that I'm falling for a spaceship?)

The design seems simple and elegant. It doesn't have the fanboyish quality to it that far too many fan designed ships have.

I want one. Put me down for the Ganymede.

okay plot hole/design problem...

someone wanna explain how that reman ship could collide with the titan's secondary hull in taking wing when those huge nacelles are in the way?

From below or above, space is three dimensional after all so it dosn't just need to be struck from the side.
