Here's a very small update. Just some details, windows and panel lines. I tried to do the NCC number, but I couldn't get the alignment right for the moment, so I'm gonna devote tomorrow to the NCC number, lol.

Any ideas on how to fit in the FASA-specified armaments? Subtle gunports or torpedo hatches? Or just the baffling smoothness of the TOS original?

I would probably just keep to the FJ details, which is where FASA traced their graphics from in the first place. Keep the lines fairly subtle, though.

Thanks guys... I got some great new refs which are causing me to take pause and rethink some aspects of what I have done so far, so an update may come soon.

As for the details like weapons... yeah, this is going to follow my Surya/Gemini plans, in keeping with the "baffling smoothness" of the Matt Jefferies look.

The only thing I would really change (and I've felt this way since the design first showed up in the '80s) is the angled cut-out in the primary hull. Never made any logical sense, even for style alone...

^ You shouldn't overthink it too much. Like Vance said, basing it on FJ designs is the best way to go, especially if you're putting it alongside the TOS Enterprise.

And if you remember, most of the original FASA ships didn't make a lot of sense, style-wise.

Well, here is my issue in terms of the sharpie bits on the aft saucer...

I know now that most people absolutely hate those... I mean really... everyone I have asked about it tells me they hate them, and that they make no sense, so I should get rid of them in all actuality, and just give the Loknar a complete saucer.

BUT... here is the problem with that...

IF I do that, for starters, it would get rid of a trademark feature of the Loknar, because not only does every FASA drawing of the ship have it, but every single fan-made drawing has it, as do all the model kits of the ship currently available.

And second... if the Loknar were to have a complete saucer... I am afraid that it will look too much like a "TOS NX-Class", and that is one thing I am desperately trying to avoid... is comparisons with the NX.

So, IDK... I'm pretty torn over the issue, lol.

Thing is, it pre-dates the NX and the Akira by at least 10 years (real time), so both of those others were based on the Loknar

As far as saucers with notched out areas, there was at least the Nova class for canon and the Azyaki (?) for non-canon. I wouldn't even worry about that.

You're doing really great work bringing the Loknar "up to date" with the Constitution.
