U.S.S. Loknar 2D WIP Thread (FASA)

Officially, the Loknar refit is.. the Loknar class still, just with TMP components (see above). The Phobos is a lot more heavily armed than even the twink ship that the Loknar is, which is saying something.

And that's not a bad thing. :)

Did a little bit of detailing on the warp nacelles, added (what I assume is) the impulse engines, and a bit of detailing on the warp pylons.

More soon...

I don't know, the Phobos could be to the Loknar the way the Soyuz was to the Miranda.

Lot's of similarity in the overall layout.

Loved the Loknar always chose this ship in FASA I always got into trouble with this ship she always got a beating but I loved her to bits. Love the design great work keep it up !!

The Loknar should have three 'torpedo ports' on the bridge dome. :) Otherwise, looking pretty good there.

Thanks... I'll add that in tonight. Any suggestions for the detail of the impulse engines or shuttlebay area?

It's a TOS ship, so there's not a lot of detail to add. in all honesty. You may want to consider adding the phaser banks on the saucer surface, but that's optional. Definitely add the four jettison/window areas on the upper saucer, though.

For the shuttle-bay (it's split, one small one on each 'wing' of the catamaran) you'll want to use a door like I have on the container pods on the aft part, and don't forget the guidance lights. :)

Maybe you could put two of the torp launchers on the extended hull where it peeks out from the hull and leave one below the bridge.

BTW, Vance, now that I look at your pilot-era Loknar... you forgot to include the 3rd torpedo port on that one, as well, lol. :)

I did, but I corrected it for the new Jaynz guides ... which aren't public yet. :) It's the main reason that I noticed it this time out.

Oohh... I can't wait to see your new version... might have to hold off on mine, until I get a look at newer refs.

Don't hold off! I'm updating a few fonts first, then will finish up my LUG Trek book, then need to get the new Jaynz site working... etc.. So don't wait, I can't promise exactly when the new material can go up.

Okay, no problem, lol... I'll keep with it. I'm thinking I have to redo the front view, so I'm gonna take a break from the top (which also needs to be redone, actually), and take that on, and post some new WIPs soon.

Okay... here is the first of the new revised WIP images... what is new? Well...

I realized that the scaling on the old version was off in too many places, so this new top view is in PERFECT scale with the Sinclair plans of the Enterprise, and the Bridge module, warp nacelles, running lights, and saucer "skylights" are all Sinclair's. The saucer is the exact same size as the Sinclair Enterprise saucer, but of course the form has been adjusted for the Loknar.

I have also credited Vance, since it is his Loknar drawings that I'm using as a reference. Thanks again for creating those, Vance... it's good to have them as a resource. More to come soon.

Here's a closeup of some of the new detail... I think it really helps to bring the ship into "reality" as a design.

I decided to name this particular Loknar the U.S.S. Iapetus, after one of Saturn's moons, known for it's unusual form.
