New update:

Thank you. Okay, here is what I am pretty certain will be the last WIP image, because the next image I post will be of the final and fully completed model! Casimiro has told me that he is pretty much done with the Gemini, and just has to pack up all the textures and the model, before sending it my way.

I know that even though this IS still a WIP image, I would like to take this opportunity to express my deepest thanks and gratitude to all of you who have not only commented and liked this ship and my 2D blueprint work with it, but who have also provided help and inspiration for me along the way. So below, is a list of people who deserve to be acknowledged for their contributions:

- aridas sofia ----- Surya-Class designer

- Charles Casimiro ----- U.S.S. Gemini 3D CGI model builder

- Melak ----- U.S.S. Gemini initial 3D CGI model builder

- Tallguy ----- provided Surya-Class 3D model references

- Alan Sinclair ----- 1701 blueprints were used as a basic guide

- Vance ----- Vance's Surya-Class orthos were originally used as a reference

- John Payne ----- Surya-Class U.S.S. Illustrious model used as a reference

- Cory McDaniels ----- provided a physical Surya-Class plastic model kit

- TOS Purist ----- provided accuracy advice

- Warped9 ----- Warped9's shuttlecraft project was a HUGE inspiration to me

- havoc92 ----- 1701 project is beyond inspirational, and motivated me GREATLY

- blssdwlf ----- as above, 1701 project was a huge inspiration to me

- Shaw ----- as above, 1701 project was a huge inspiration to me

And again, for everyone else who has liked this model, and who has enjoyed my 2D work on the Gemini blueprints, my sincere thanks to you all... this all began by my simply wanting to draft up a new set of larger and clearer orthos for Melak to use... and look where it is now... I have been working with the very people whose work I've long idolized, such as aridas and Casimiro.

To aridas... I know you have not always agreed with the choices I made with the Gemini, and to be honest, I've often feared you absolutely detested the ship, but I would nevertheless like to thank you for your graciousness. Thank you.

^Not true. I think you and Casimiro have done a hell of a job. I have my idea of the ship but that isn't your idea or that of anyone else, nor should it be. I am happy to see what I did inspire you.

I hope I'm able to get a few pics from you guys for the FRS website at some point!

Thank you! I really appreciate that. :)

Of course, you may have some nice images for the FRS site! In fact, if there is a specific angle/view you wish to see, let me know, and I will pass it on to Casimiro, for when he sends me his renders. I have already made a special request to see the Gemini alongside his Enterprise.

Again, thank you, Warped9... as I said, coming from you, that really does mean a great deal to me.

I completely agree with Warped9, this vessel could be in the Star Trek universe. That should also include the shuttles that Warped9 has designed. I especially like that concept shuttle that is being worked on. I can not wait to see the CGI orthos of this vessel as well as the 2D orthos. Great work.:techman::techman:

While I'm not a fan of TOS-R it might have been cool to see this design slipped into one of the episodes somewhere. Maybe orbiting a starbase in "Courtmartial" or as one of the ships in "The Ultimate Computer."

Don't think I have not thought of that... ;) Something tells me the final renders of his concept shuttle might just happen to somehow have Gemini markings on them... :D

Again, thanks guys, for all the kind feedback... I am really delighted that the design is liked, and that what I've done with it feels like it could naturally fit in with TOS, as that was my goal all along.

Definitely. It is a very nice design.

And completely off topic, but I think my brain just shorted out when I saw your name with an E-D avatar!

Thanks. In regards to the bent pylons... well, those are on the original Surya that aridas designed, so I used it here, to be true to that. Like I said, the Coventry-Class is the ship with pylons going straight down. I like the bent pylons, because it's visually interesting, while still looking clean and uncomplicated, and not too outlandish. It was actually a part of what sold me on the Surya as the basis for the Gemini rather than the Coventry.

I like the bent pylons. I think it would look a bit plain with straight ones. It gives it a bit of a wider stance, like bent kneecaps of a dude ready to pounce. Ok, I think I'm officially crazy. Thank you, TrekBBS.

LOL... nah, you're not crazy, lol...

I think it looks more aggressive... like when a bodybuilder bends down and brings his arms down to flex his muscles, in a kind of wrestler or football player-like pose.
