Typhon Pact Reading Order

Hi all, I’m sorry that I’m incredibly late to this discussion, but I’m finishing the Destiny series and about to get into the Typhon Pact books, and I’m wondering how essential the Voyager books are to the overall story. Is it just background or is it necessary to understand the plot?
They aren't necessary at all and don't even feature the Typhon Pact a lot. Voyager is mostly off, doing its own thing while TNG, Titan, DS9 and the mini-series "advance" the over-arching plot. That being said I found Kirsten Beyer's Voyager novels (mostly Voyager stuff post-Destiny) to be absolutely amazing and think they are a "must-read", in terms of quality. They're also a serious improvement over the show, IMO.

Also, “A Pocket Full Of Lies” takes place from June to July 2382 & “Architects Of Infinity” probably takes place from July 2382 onward, whereas the “Star Trek Prey” (which is the furthest chronologically right now) takes place from about November 2385 to February 2386. (Even the Prometheus trilogy takes place from October to December 2385.)

They are neither "background" nor necessary to understand the plot of Typhon Pact; they are an independent and completely amazing story.

The flowchart in my signature might help - look at the black arrows.

“Star Trek Prey” (which is the furthest chronologically right now) takes place from about November 2385 to February 2386.

You're off there. Prey is February to April 2386, by its own Historian's Notes. TNG: Headlong Flight is 2 months later, in June, and TNG: Hearts and Minds is several weeks after that, putting it in July. Section 31: Control overlaps with Hearts and Minds, so it's also in July. DS9: Enigma Tales is weeks after Control, probably August '86. Titan: Fortune of War is 8 months after Titan: Sight Unseen, which puts it in September '86. The epilogue of The Fall: A Ceremony of Losses, set about a year after the body of the book, is also probably in September '86. That's the furthest ahead we've gotten so far, aside from the odd flashforward.

I didn’t have the books handy (and I still don’t—-I’ll have to check later), but I was going by Memory Beta, and in the case of “Prey” it has book 1 in Feb 2386, while 2&3 were in 2385. All the others listed had 2385.

Thanks! I’ve loved and used that flowchart as I’m catching up on my Trek reading. I can’t tell you how useful it’s been.

Then Memory Beta is wrong. I checked the Prey books, and their Historians' Notes gave the dates quite explicitly. I'm sure of all the others as well. I'm currently reading Fortune of War, and its note says "late 2386."

Excellent! I’ll probably go through the Typhon Pact and then double back. I didn’t want to lose momentum in this story. Thanks for the response!

I just pulled the recent books off my shelf, here's what they are saying for the main stories:

DS9: Ascendance Part 1 - December 2377 to February 2378
Voy: Architects of Inifinity - August 2382
Tit: Fallen Gods - November 2382
The Fall - August 27 to November 1, 2385
DS9: Sacraments of Fire - September 2385, "just days after" 'The Fall: Revelation & Dust'
Pro: Fire With Fire - Oct. 29, 2385 to November 16, 2385
TNG: The Light Fantastic - November 2385
Pro: The Root Of All Rage - November 18-25, 2385
DS9: The Missing - late-November 2385
TNG: Takedown - late-November 2385, concurrent with 'DS9: The Missing'
Pro: In The Heart of Chaos - November 25, 2385 - January 2386?
DS9: Ascendance Part 2 - December 2385 to January 2386
TNG: Armageddon's Arrow - early-January 2386
DS9: Force And Motion - January 2386, just after 'Ascendance'
DS9: The Long Mirage - late-January 2386, immediately after 'Ascendance'
DS9: Section 31: Disavowed - January 2386, a "few months" after "The Fall"
Tit: Sight Unseen - early-2386, a 'few months' after "The Fall"
Prey: Hell's Heart - February 2386
Prey: The Jackal's Trick - March 2386
DS9: Gamma: Oriignal Sin - March 2386
Prey: The Hall of Heroes - April 2386
TNG: Headlong Flight - mid-2386 (most likely June), 2 months after "Prey"
TNG: Hearst and Minds - late 2386, a 'few months' after "Prey" but just before "Control"
DS9: Section 31: Control - late-2386, a 'few months' after "Section 31: Disavowed"
DS9: Enigma Tales - late 2386 (most likely November or December) just "weeks" after 'Control' and 1 year after 'The Missing'
Tit: Fortune Of War late 2386, a 'few' months after 'Sight Unseen' and 20 years after "The Survivors" (TNG S3)

I don’t have the ebook only releases, so those are the main books that have been issued in physical and ebook. And the last 5 books were vague on their placement. They happen sometime in the later-part of 2386, but really the last definitive date so far is “Prey” in April 2386.
