Kirk: Is there anything to eat? I don't know about anyone else, but I'm starved.

Carol: There is food in the Genesis Cave. Enough to last a lifetime, if necessary.

Carol: This? It took the Starfleet Corps of Engineers ten months in space suits to tunnel out all of this. What we did in there...we did in a day. David, why don't you show Dr. McCoy and the Lieutenant our idea of food.

David: This is just to give us something to do, isn't it?

David: Come on.

Kirk: As your teacher, Mr. Spock is fond of saying, I like to think there always are...possibilties.

Kirk: As your teacher, Mr. Spock is fond of saying, I like to think there always are...possibilties.

He says more, to Carol:

Kirk: I did what you wanted. I stayed away. Why didn't you tell me?

Carol: How can you ask me that? Were we together? Were we going to be? You had your world and I had mine. And I wanted him in mine, not chasing through the universe with his father. Actually, he's a lot like you in many ways. Please. Tell me what you're feeling.

Kirk: There's a man I haven't seen in 15 years who's trying to kill me. You show me a son who'd be happy to help him. My son. My life that could have been, and wasn't. What am I feeling? I'm old... Worn out.

Carol: Let me show you something that will make you feel young as if the world was new.
