TWOK, Koenig and "I never forget a face."

Humor. It is a difficult concept.

Oops.

As a matter of fact, I do have a difficult time with written humor.

There was a time in the '80s that I swore off humor because the entire basis of humor was insult.

In the seventies, when asked about stardates, Roddenberry said that they weren't just about timekeeping, but also involved the ship's position within the galaxy.

I've never assumed stardates during TOS were sequential.

Yes we know that, but my point was that we all agree that, for example, the stardates in TNG, DS9, VOY and the various movies are meant to be sequential. So why wouldn't we assume that for TOS?

It is therefore convenient to assume that "Catspaw" takes place before "Space Seed", regardless of where it actually falls in the television broadcast schedule. ;) It's certainly a far easier explanation for the TWOK 'error' than others that have been offered over the years.

Maybe Khan was a telepath and plucked those thoughts from Chekov's mind. Or maybe Khan was a racist and thought everyone russian was named Chekhov but lucked out in this instance.

There is of course the excuse that covers all mistakes and that is time travel alteration. At some point the timeline was altered were Chekov had a bigger role in the events during "Space Seed."
