Two pitches for new Trek shows

Trek4Ever

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
I know these two ideas will never be considered for a show and labeled as fanwank by many but I think they would make for interesting shows...

Premise 1
This show would take place right now and wouldn't have the title Star Trek. Basically it's about a group o Starfleet people who are marooned and standed in our time period. They have no hope of returning to the future and try to blend in. There would be little mention or specifics of where they came from as they encounter contemporaries. They try not to be noticed but some become aware of the fact that they come from someplace else and think they are aliens. In fact some of the characters are but were surgically altered to appear human. Some conflict will come from some renegades who want to alter events to either speed up humanity's progress or doom it. There won't be any overt signs that it's a Star Trek show to entice new viewers to watch only diehard Trekkers will figure out it's a Trek show. It will be a mystery to the average viewer that will be slowly revealed over time.

Premise 2
A take on the oft-mentioned Fall of the Federation idea, but this one takes place centuries after that event happened. Some unknown events have caused many of the Federation worlds to lose touch with each other but slowly the Federation was re-established. Things will be topsy turvy in that once bitter enemies and solid allies will have their roles changed. Some races may be extinct, others from the other quadrants will have a presence in the Alpha Quadrant. The show would follow the adventures of a crew of a new starship that is trying to find out what happened to the more distant worlds and try to reconnect with them and do some exploring.

Any comments?

Ummm, no. I haven't seen Odyssey 5 but from what I know of that show, in Premise 1 the Earth isn't destroyed, there's no mysterious alien and no mission to save the planet. It would be more of a melodrama, something to lure in non-genre fans but there would be a general mystery that would be revealed over time that fans would pick up.
As for Andromeda, while similar Premise 2 wouldn't have a time displaced ship or devastating war, it would take place some time after the Federation was reformed. Basically the show would level the playing field and show how the Federation would come to power but without rebooting what went on before.

I only watched two episodes of Odyssey 5 before becoming bored of it. But without the central mission of preventing Earth's destruction, there wouldn't be much to hook the audience in at all (I know I certainly wouldn't have lasted two whole episodes if it was just some people who got lost in another time - why should I care?) So the central mission, or mystery, is a key element. What do you have in mind?

A show about the Federation being rebuilt might be intriguing. I wanted ENT to be about the Federattion being built in the first place. Too bad we didn't get that, but oh well, can always try again.

The fact that Andromeda did a similar premise doesn't bother me. Couldn't get past one episode of that show, mainly due to poor production values (zippers on the Magog! :D) and my loathing of Kevin Sorbo. I'd watch this concept if the casting were good and the budget high enough that you could watch it without cringing.

Premise 1 - Would probably work best without a Star Trek link, but rather as a completely original show.

Premise 2 - Very promising concept. I've had something like this in mind myself for quite some time.
