Two-Parters

We got two-parters for the Klingons (Redemption), Romulans (Unification), Cardsssians (Chain Of Command), and the Borg (Best of Both Worlds). If the show kept running a few more seasons, what aliens/storylines do you think would have gotten a two-parter?

Maybe the Trill. But I'm happy that they didn't develop them further in TNG. Otherwise they would have established more things about them that contradict the DS9 Trill.

Then maybe the Betazoids, involving Lwaxana and introducing more exemplary Betazoids. Seeing more of Betazed would have been interesting and the Betazoids are a typical TNG species.

They might've explored the Q more, & the Bajorans would've gotten something. Ro probably wouldn't have been written off so quickly, & maybe Sito Jaxa shows up again... not dead

I think they'd long given up on exploring the Betazoids, around the time of Tin Man & The Price. Sadly, they just couldn't do anything with them. I think Violations would've been better if it had been a sect of Betazoids instead

It’d be curious to see how TNG might have done a Bajoran two-parter to lead into maybe a DS9 resolution?

Betazoid two-parter too. Although I’d want Betazed to be more of an ideal Federation world and we really get to see that in all its splendor. Again, maybe Troi has to investigate something, like Worf did in “Birthright,” that resolves on DS9. It’d advertise the newer show and give her some juicy acting possibilities that she could have easily pulled off. It’d be another “away” episode for her, like “Face of the Enemy.”

I think a Ferengi two-parter would have been an obvious go-to for TNG. I imagine they’d have been very different though than they were on DS9? More cutthroat and less comical.

I’d also have liked either a Sheliak or Tholian two-parter, but that would have been far less likely, given the FX constraints of the time. Still, I wonder how TNG would have presented these peoples, as opposed to later series and TrekLit.

I think "Rascals" had been the final nail in the coffin for the Ferengi as outright villains, and the Bajorans and Cardassians seemed to be seen as mainly DS9's concern after that show started. That being the case, and the fact that the Borg and Klingons already had two two-parters each, I suspect the Romulans would have been the focus of any new two-parter, possibly something to give conclusion to Sela's story arc.

Pre-emptive Strike is the 2nd to last TNG episode, over a year after DS9 started. Journey's End, Lower Decks. They used Cardassians throughout their last season, while DS9 was on. I'm sure that if TNG had stuck around longer, they'd have had more Bajoran/Cardassian stuff there too. Probably a crossover two parter with that show

I dunno, the DaiMons in both “Rascals” and “Bloodlines” weren’t completely toothless. It just seemed like they really didn’t know what to do with them. They didn’t have to be Cardassian intimidating to be interesting to explore. Maybe they couldn’t pull off a “Redemption,” but maybe they could pull off a “Gambit”? I like the idea of a challenge, of a “finding it.” It would have been interesting to see more Ferengi ships too.

You know what might have really worked is the parasites from “Conspiracy.” Maybe there’s some catastrophe in the first part (Betazed?) and the big reveal in the second (parasites). This time, they’re using telepaths?!

The Trill are an interesting one. They covered “doing it with friends” in Riker and Crusher in “The Host.” Maybe in the Trill’s return, they could have followed up by exploring “doing it with the same sex.” I dunno about a two-parter, but it would have been enough for an interesting episode.

The problem there is the reason why there was never any follow up to Conspiracy or the parasites is because the Holy Word of Gene forbid it, and this continued to be enforced even after his death.

Isn't that basically DS9 Rejoined?

I hadn’t heard that. I assumed it was a copywrite thing, or just not wanting to mine those earlier seasons for stories. I mean, Gene’s been gone a long time. If it was him then, I imagine it had to do with the utopian aspect of the Federation, and, well, “Paradise Lost.”

First! Plus TNG would have had a different take on it. Maybe Jadzia was bisexual, but Beverly wasn’t? Plus, those Trill seemed to completely suppress the host identity — explanation, please?! Might have been interesting to visit the Trill homeworld and explore how all that works and the social ramifications.

They could have explored why there are different Trill - the Odan Trill and the Jadzia Trill. But I guess this is something only DS9 could have done. Are there still Trill with ridges? It is obviously another 'We don't discuss it with outsiders' topic.
