Two new Star Trek films in the works

So Paramount announced they are working on two new Star Trek films but they gave no other information. They have not even released what series they will be for. I assume one will continue from the last movie but the other could be anything.

So, if they choose to do one for Voyager what would you like to see? Reboot or continue the story?

Also we already have a current thread about what you would change if it was rebooted but what would you like if the story was a continuation with the same characters?

Just curious.

I really liked Voyager being away from all the 'responsibilities' and messy Alpha Quadrant politics so somehow I would like them back in the Delta Quadrant. But how?? They would need to go back in.

She didnt learn from the last nebular monster and so Coffee in the nebula turned out to be a creature that can poop you out to other quadrants? Wow...4am loopiness what have you done to me? Yeah sure I will post this. Why not?

Serious answer. It's not dramatic but maybe they take advantage of an opportunity to return because they didn't realize what they were missing?

Yeah why not... Maybe the female Caretaker can whisk them away this next time.

If the movies are more of the JJ in universe then i will not be seeing them.

The movie idea in my head, that will NEVER actually happen, involves all the shows.

Basically "Boothy" was not able to convince the rest of his species that humans were no threat so they begin their attack in the AQ. Voyager characters would be prominent because they're the only ones who've dealt with them before.

If they continue the Kelvin Timeline, Star Trek XV could be a spinoff featuring new characters on another starship or starbase in that era. It could even be the TNG version of that timeline. Who knows at this point.

Either way, I'm personally inclined to think Star Trek XIV could be it for the current cast with Pine, Quinto, Saldana, etc., if they're reaching or even exceeding the pay scale of Shatner and company. What could change everything, though, is if the movie is a really big hit, IMO.

They rebooted Star Trek before TOS existed so I suppose they could reboot anywhere along the time line, like before Scorpion or maybe Year of Hell. Of course new actors would have to be hired.

Still it's fun to speculate. Voyager is apparently the most popular on Netflix so you never know.

I'm not interested in a Next Gen version. Been there, done that but that's just me.

I would not want a reboot personally. I have a strong love for these characters as they are.

I've posted this before but in the movie in my head.....
It starts with a random ship that's near Romulan space. They get some weird readings they can't make sense of and then we see them blow up.

Starfleet sends Captain Riker on the Titan to investigate, fearing it may have been an attack by the Romulans. Once they get there they cant make sense of the energy signatures until Tuvok recognizes them as from 8472.

I don't have every detail worked out but it involves most of the Voyager crew since they've dealt with them before and they even get the freed borg from unimatrix zero to help.

Big space battle happens..lots of casualties but ultimately they head back to fluidic space

My guess is that the first movie will take place in the messed-up Abrams universe with lame impersonations of Kirk, Spock and the others.

The second one will probably be in the Ninja Turtles universe.

Not what I want actually.

Excellent suggestion! Could be a great movie.

I would not touch what has gone before. I'd start after Voyager got home but the books don't sound like what I would want. I'd love species 8472 resurfacing and Voyager dealing with them as the ship is deep in the Alpha Quadant scouting new territory.

The books are great but not movie great IMO

I would want to see 8472 and the freed Borg.
Kristen Beyer has been great with picking up some loose ends from the show and finishing them off ao maybe she'll revisit those borg (i hope i hope i hope)

Well, I'm afraid that at less one of them, is based on ST: Discovery's storyline.
-> CBS/Paramount/Netflix seems to be in love with their new baby and try to cash as they can on this new series so, making a movie could be one of their plans!

As I already said, I'd prefered a sequel to Voyager. I'm really tired of all prequels!

I don't see what a continuation of Voyager could really be. They got home. That's the end of their story. Likely the ship was so beaten up and messed around with that it would be decommissioned and scrapped, and the crew dispersed.

A reboot of Voyager could make for a decent movie, I guess.

I'm assuming this is just a fantasy thought experiment, because there's no way in hell Paramount would make a new feature film about Voyager.
