Two New Exclusive Clips - MTV and Yahoo! Movies

Hey, I just noticed: That isn't Sulu getting ready to fight Kirk in the bar. Those early reports of the 20 minutes of footage lied!
Or Sulu just isn't one of the first four guys.

Don't know if it's already been posted but Yahoo Movies has a 45 second clip of McCoy meeting Kirk

WOW! :D

Awesome. Thank you.

45 Seconds Long. Our first look at a scene from the new film. I found it hilarious!

This was also featured during the Press Junket a while abck.
Bloody hell, does anyone have a YouTube or alternate site? They "can't play the video in my region."

Proxy Server.
I'm pretty sure YouTube versions of both have been posted in this thread since then.

On the Apple trailers site there's now a high-def version of the Kirk/Spock bridge clip. You can pretend you have Trek XI on blu-ray!
That would be here.

Possibly, but there is a vaguely Asian looking guy that I'm guessing some people confused for Sulu.
I noticed him, too, and had the same "hey, wait - that's not Sulu" thought, but I thought I remembered reports even before the press screenings saying that Sulu was one of the people who punched out Kirk in a bar fight. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

It's a little bland. Alternatively Uhura's line could be simplified to "and I thought hicks like you only fucked farm animals"...

There you have the actual problem with the dialogue - the word that's wanted, conversationally, is indeed "fuck," but that's a bit too much even for this Trek movie.

It's the "had sex with" that sticks out, so to speak. ;)
"had sex with" gets the necessary PG-13 rating, the F-bomb would push to an R rating (not wanted). Besides, not everyone wants to hear all the profanity. [See thread dedicated to the movie's rating.]
The Starfleeters, Uhura included, seem unreasonably dismissive of Kirk just because he's a local. Seems unnatural for members of Starfleet to be that rude.

Good clip otherwise.
If you have ever been in the military, in a bar where locals hate the military, and/or been in a bar fight there, you would know it rings very true. As a veteran, it brought back a few memories...

Re: NEW CLIP-"Shot Of Love"-Kirk & Uhura (Chris Pine & Zoe Saldana)

In short they were perfect analogues for the men who were running the show who grew up during the Great Depression and came of age during WWII. In short not touchy-feely types but intelligent, responsible, red blooded, passionate adults with shitloads of life-experience and maturity.

Re: NEW CLIP-"Shot Of Love"-Kirk & Uhura (Chris Pine & Zoe Saldana)

i found about the best way to look for you tube versions of the trailers is to type star trek for the search but limit the time period for the search.
you can even do same day searches.
it is how i found some of them.

Re: NEW CLIP-"Shot Of Love"-Kirk & Uhura (Chris Pine & Zoe Saldana)

In other words, they're acting like real people rather than the touchy-feely type as portrayed in TOS, correct? That's one reason why DS9 strikes a chord with certain fans, because it's how people actually are and would be.

You don't even know what the fuck you're ranting about. The characters on Star Trek were hardly touchy-feely types. You're thinking of TNG and Voyager. The characters on Star Trek were red blooded, passionate, opinionated people. In short they were perfect analogues for the men who were running the show who grew up during the Great Depression and came of age during WWII. In short not touchy-feely types but intelligent, responsible, red blooded, passionate adults with shitloads of life-experience and maturity. Sure as hell not the spoiled pampered Baby Boomers and Gen Xers who drove Trek right into the ground with their silly touchy-feely philosophies.

I anything the Starfleeters being dismissive towards a mere townie is no different than their attitudes towards colonists, miners and beurocratic types. Star Trek era Starfleet types were tough bastards.

And rude!
Bah. I'd take the DS9 crew over the TOS crew any day of the week as to which group is tougher, grittier, and more realistic.

Sisko knowingly helped assassinate an innocent Romulan and decided he could live with it.

From Friday's Child:

Kirk - There's just one thing I want.

Spock - The Klingon?

Kirk - One of us must get him...

Spock - Revenge, Captain?

Kirk - Why not.

Someone hasn't actually watched Star Trek.

Re: MTV Exclusive - NEW 45 Second Exclusive Clip!

The McCoy scene is nothing less than awesome. Its even better than Deforest's entrance in STTMP.

It's certainly better written. And yeah, trying to deliver that dialogue ("Your revered Admiral Nogura invoked a little-known, seldom-used reserve activation clause...in simpler language, they drafted me!") resulted in one of Kelley's more awkward performances.

I agree with that.

Its as if Urban has out De'd DeForrest Kelley, hes channelling him, its awsome to watch.

The line is written perfectly for McCoys hatred of space and engineers/modern equipment. Its fantastic.

"I dont need a doctor, i am a doctor, damnit No window in the bathroom, you cant see where your going. "

"See if you're sitting pretty with a case of Andorian Shingles." :guffaw:

Excellent, we have Mccoy back and could quite possibly steal the movie. Infact, WILL steal the movie.

Pine acts the scene well though, to give him his due.

Its a fabulous scene of meeting your oldest best mate though, really well done.

"I may throw up on you."

Nice to meet you, too, Dr. Mc Sexy.
