Twilight Zone may arrive on Blu Ray

Can we at least insert footage of John Candy leaning into the camera three times?

To Serve Man : It's A Cookbook---see?

Also, about a remake: Apparently Leo DiCaprio is working on one. But it will be a feature film, and probably only feature one story. (TZ is Leo's favorite TV series)

Bump: Amazon now taking preorders for Season 3, apparently due on February 15th. Link

Did Season 1 ever come out? There's reference to a Sept. 14 release but I've yet to see it in the stores anywhere (EDIT: I checked Amazon and it's there but it never showed up at Best Buy or Wal-Mart and you think it would). Nor have I seen any reviews. What's the verdict on the upconversion?

Alex

Yes, season 1 is out. I got it from my local BB.

And by 'upconversion' you mean those episodes that were shot on videotape, am I right? I don't think the release schedule has gotten to those yet (AFAIK, they were in later seasons).

seeason 2 Blu-ray review

season 2 Blu-ray review is up:

As is expected, the episodes shot on videotape don't fair nearly as well. They appear blurry compared to the 35mm episodes. Detail is obscured and not nearly as fine. The look and feel of them just doesn't measure up. Grays and blacks aren't nearly as revealing. Overall, it's almost as if you picked up a different set all together when you watch these episodes.

The videotape episodes are presented in 1080i while the rest of the set is presented in 1080p.

That is very welcome news. I have those single disc 'numbered' releases and it's very hard to find the episode you want.

I'm not sure how much an improvement Blu-Ray could mean with a 50-year-old series that's in black & white, but we'll see. :techman:

I can't imagine this coming out on blue-ray. If it did, do you know how many folks would hope on it! That would be equavelent to I Love Lucy doing the same. If it ever did....WOW!. I won't hold my hopes up.

I saw Season 2 on Blu-ray at a department store on the weekend. So it's happening.

I'm still curious how the videotaped episodes will be handled (upgraded, left as SD?).

I've decided not to invest, personally, as I already have $200 invested in my DVD box sets of the series (including the one with the spiffy book that came with it) and my plasma makes them look great. But it's nice to see these out in the format so more people can discover them.

I've also seen a new "Fan Favorites" box set of about 15 episodes making the rounds the last couple weeks, but only in DVD. Don't know if they did a BD of that one.
