Twilight fan hit by car and killed at Comic-Con

you'd think with all that glitter the car would of seen her better.

One down, a few million to go.

Comments like these are purely designed to get a rise out of people. It's a shame that they are allowed.

Yet I got an infraction for using the term "douchebag". But it's okay to make snide comments about someone who died in an unfortunate accident.

What a marvelous world we live in. :techman:

The woman was in a crosswalk and had a red light when she tried to run across Harbor Drive toward the convention center about 9:20 a.m., said police Sgt. Ron Glass.

The driver of one car saw her and slowed down, but the driver of a Subaru Outback didn’t see her in time, Glass said. The pedestrian tried to stop her own momentum when she saw the oncoming Subaru but tripped and hit the side of the car, Glass said.

I haven't seen anyone post about this yet, so I thought I'd share. Let's be classy in this thread and NOT MAKE ANY TWILIGHT JOKES. This is a tragedy.

2) I am constantly paranoid when I'm driving that some pedestrian is going to do exactly this and that I might wind up hurting or killing someone through no fault of my own. I'm hyper aware when I'm out driving because of this. Please, everyone - be careful. Crosswalks are there for a reason.

I'm kind of wondering why in the hell the Twilight aspect is relevant, too.

I was run over about three years ago. I was in an empty gas station parking lot, calling a cab, and the car struck me from behind going about 30 MPH.

You really don't learn to appreciate the expression "the element of surprise" until something like that happens.

I was pretty beat up. For a few minutes I actually thought one of my legs was broken. I couldn't use it for a good couple of days. My knees have been pretty bad for a long time, but the one from that specific leg has been in awful shape ever since. The other injuries were nasty, but relatively minor.

In retrospect I probably should have gone to the hospital.

Anyway, I'd still love to go to SDCC someday. It's a pretty big monster of a con now, I get that, but I'd probably still have a good time.

The Twilight aspect is relevant because it is a matter of fact about the person who died at the proverbial doorstep of a science fiction convention that's getting coverage on this board (e.g., right now in the Man of Steel thread). Funny how people somehow assume that the thread is meant to be about Twilight fans as a whole.

Infraction for trolling. Comments to PM

Comments regarding such are better made in PMs with me or another SFF mod. Failing that please use the MA forum.

Back to the topic at hand...

Comic-Con has been about more than comics for years. That Twilight is featured (again, this isn't their first rodeo there) should not be a surprise to anyone.
I know that, and I'm not surprised. Doesn't mean it ain't worth re-questioning. ;)
