TV vs Movies

Dexter, Weeds, Lost, and others put out fantastic storytelling that surpasses most of the shows from the past two decades or more. There were some really good movies in 2007 though.

Production values on TV shows have gotten a lot better recently, too. I can see how Lost or Heroes could pay the bill, but little cable shows like Mad Men and Dexter? I still don't see how they can have production values that good when they get 2M viewers.

Say what you like about Stargate, and knowing you you will , but they do a great job of getting as much of what little money they have on to the screen. The visual effects coming out of their new in-house team are pretty damned special for a low budget cable show.
