My TV has just died and all the TVs i have looked at have a build in freeview box but i have a freeview box thats lets me recored so i want to keep it.
Does anyone know if a freeview box will tune into a TV with a build in box with out any problems?
I have never seen apocalypse now and it is sitting on my freeview box i was going to watch it tonight:klingon:

I cant see it being a problem, providing you have the right plugs to plug in your original freeview box, there cant be many TVs being made without built in freeview these days.

You can plug in almost anything to your TV nowadays, you just need to make sure the TV you purchase has enough plugs to allow you to have several things plugged in at once, saves on all that taking out and putting back in of things.

It should be fine - I know people in the same boat who have bought built-in freeview and kept their old box as it was far superior.

Though I'm saying 'should' not 'will' in case theres one bastard manufacturer that denies this possibility.

It should work fine, but I can imagine it getting confusing with too many video sources, "which one am I looking at? built in or set top box?"

Be cautious if you have older (~15 years+) technology (eg, video recorder/games console), as these may appear to no longer work with your new television. A lot of modern televisions will struggle/fail to process video signals that are slightly imperfect.

What the heck is "freeview"
Freeview is pretty much a brand name created to help sell set top boxes & digital TVs, to the UK market in the run up to the digital switch over.

A number of TV channels air on "Freeview" including the BBC, ITV, C4, Five, (including their spin-offs) along with shopping TV & channels like Virgin 1, Sky 3 & Quest, it sadly also has a line in Babestation type channels.

the freeview brand is also used for the same reason in Australia & New Zeland
