Contest: ENTER TV & Media Avatar Contest: "One and done"

Aragorn

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
TV shows that were canceled after one season, or movies that were intended to be franchises but didn't make it past the first movie. Will allow sci fi and fantasy.

"Profit" (1996)

Only seven or eight episodes, though the pilot is two hours.

Jim Profit (Adrian Pasdar) wants to move up the coporate ladder and he's willing to do far more than step on a few toes to get up there.

Fans of "Dexter" will probably like this.

I was going to list Firefly as acceptable in the OP, but forgot about the movie, which technically doesn't make it one and done, but I'll let you guys decide if it should be allowed or not.

I say don't allow it. Because of that movie and those comic books but mainly because @auntiehill's avatar is better than mine. :shifty:

Okay, Firefly has been ruled out because Serenity does not make it one and done. Sorry, auntiehill.

My entry:

^ So just to clarify, then, does that mean whatever we enter can have no follow-ups of any form? (I would have thought Firefly was OK based on the criteria in the OP.)

I was originally okay with Firefly, but some good points were brought up. A movie follow-up with the same cast and crew is different than a comic book or novel.

^ One of the ideas I was considering was BSG: TOS, since it only had one season. But it had a spin-off, and then a reboot as well. So I'm thinking it probably doesn't count either. I'll just go with something else.

(Yes, for those of you scoring at home, I was going to steal Kai "the spy"'s idea, and do a double-feature with my SF&F avatar entry.

Um, I mean I would have done an homage to Kai's idea. It totally would have been an homage.)

I think "firefly" should qualify. It was one and done. A movie doesn't bring it back for more, it's just a movie. The initial post didn't say shows cancelled after one season unless it had a movie.

Worst. Sitcom. Ever.

I don't know, it's got some pretty hefty competition, including "Hail Honey I'm Home", a sitcom about Hitler and his wife that so offend the British -- since it was a UK show (what a terrible idea, too) that even though they made eight episodes, only one aired after the backlash.
