TV & Media Avatar Contest: Fictional US Presidents

^UM....intrinsical beat you to that one, too.

Yea and I deleted it :p. Not even going to try now, not even sure what's left, president wise .

Gary Shandling from Capt. America?

Gary Shandling in Captain America: The Winter Soldier is a United States Senator, not the President. The President in the MCU is Matthew Ellis,

who appeared as the target of an assassination/corporate coup d'etat attempt in Iron Man 3, and is targeted for assassination by Hydra during their coup attempt while he's visiting the U.S. Capitol in The Winter Soldier. My guess is that Senator Stern, a Hydra agent, would have been installed as President after the deaths of President Ellis and most of the rest of Congress.

Ah. My bad.

eta: William Devane played a fictional President in both SG:1 and 24. No one's done him yet, or either of the Presidents from the two "White House Takeover" films.

Daddy Estevez as President Josiah Bartlet from The West Wing

Damn it, Kai! You beat me to it :p !

You could try his successor.

Great entries so far, all! :techman:

There was a political thriller (miniseries) called H2O, starring Paul Gross, in which a Prime Minister dies in a canoeing accident and his son enters politics and becomes PM. I remember watching it, and you couldn't possibly miss that it was meant to evoke comparisons between Pierre Trudeau and his son, Justin (not that Justin would ever have been anything remotely like the slimy character in the movie, but Pierre was a very avid canoer).

Cool, there's one! :)

Actually, IIRC, Wallace Shawn also played a fictional PM in Canadian Bacon, and I'm sure there are others, too. But it's still a fairly obscure category! ;)

One of my all-time favourite fictional presidents as played by Alan Alda on Canadian Bacon.

Edit: Heh, nice coincidental mention of Canadian Bacon, Avro! I hadn't noticed that reply of yours until I posted this, I swear ...

If someone is still looking for a president, Billy Bob Thornton in Love Actually. Lloyd Bridges in Hot Shots Part Deux. Jimmy Smits, John Goodman or James Cromwell in The West Wing.

I just thought of a good one, but I'm not sure if its within the rules. Jon Culshaw impersonating as George Bush Jr in Dead Ringers?

Gore should have won, the Supreme Court had no business deciding anything.

But it's a fundamentally flawed system we have, so it is what it is.

I wonder, would Nixon's head from Futurama be fictional?

If Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter is unacceptable, then I would assume that Nixon's talking head in a jar is also unacceptable.

Read the Original Post:
The president in question has to be fictional, so Bruce Greenwood as John F. Kennedy or Josh Brolin as George W. Bush would not be eligible. This rule will stand even if the portrayal itself is entirely fictional. (I'm looking at you, Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter... :shifty:) However, real people shown as being a president are OK, as long as they were never president in real life.

For this contest, SF&F entries are allowed. Oh, and if you could identify your president and what they are from, that'd be great, too! :)

auntiehill is correct on all counts! :)

Sorry, intrinsical, but since he is playing a real-life president, he is ineligible.

Yes, since Nixon had been a president IRL, he doesn't really qualify either. (And besides, in the show, Nixon's head wasn't the president of the US, he was president of Earth.)

I'll be honest here... when I wrote that last bolded sentence in the quote, I specifically had Schwarzenegger from The Simpsons Movie in mind, and wanted to clarify his eligibility in advance! :)

Recap time! I think I'll use reverse alphabetical order just to shake things up a little. :)

If I have missed anyone, please let me know.

I'm planning to put the voting thread up Tuesday night, so you've still got a couple of days to enter if you're interested. Still a lot of unused fictional presidents out there!
