Tuvok's jaw clenching

ProwlAlpha

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
I have been re-watching Voyager from Season 1 and I have noticed that Tuvok generally clenches his jaw at least twice a scene. There is one scene where he does it like five times. Talk about a good drinking game, especially a Tuvok heavy episode. I wouldn't have mention it, but it is very noticeable.

I didn't notice it when the show first aired, but I'm rewatching season one now. I'll have to look for this.

Maybe the jaw-clenching simply the actor's choice for indicating when Tuvok was stressed, annoyed, etc. ... after all, any indication of how Tuvok was "feelling" would have to be subtle, because he's from a race of people who methodically supress their emotions ... must be an interesting challenge for an actor to play a role like that.

Never noticed. I will have to go back and watch out for this. It is probably due to cocaine. I have done the old jaw clinch a few times after a few lines of coke.

I like Tuvok. I think he is one of the underrated characters on the show.

I agree. I really enjoyed him too. I liked that they made him very different from Spock - security officer instead of science officer, family man instead of single guy - and yet still quintessientally Vulcan.
