TSFS era Shuttle/Drone Defender Carrier

I don't know where I am going with this, but I was looking at a piece of office furniture (a monitor stand) and started sketching this very utilitarian ship. It's for short close contact missions.

You can see 3 shuttle doors on the side. There's 3 on the other as well making it a through deck. Most of the work space is in the secondary hull with the small upper command hull in an unusual square configuration being significantly lesser in volume in proportion to the rest of the ship.

Size and crew is yet to be determined, but I'm leaning towards a secondary hull about the same size as the excelsior's. It's certainly meant to be a work vehicle. The luxuries of a Starship are at a minimum because they're just not needed. It's meant to always be in close proximity to a starbase.

That sure looks interesting, although the square "saucer" will take some getting used to. But would your vessel actually require warp nacelles, since it´s supposed to operate close to Starbases? Impulse power might be enough - just a thought. Not having the nacelles would also make the design even more unique and unusual, which seems to be what you´re going for here.

I'm going to keep the nacelles- I'm stuck on the idea that it still has to get around faster- and maybe the outskirts of a solar system or something to that effect.

I also have trouble with that square primary section- but a small circular one looks equally odd, so I thought what the hell? Keep with the odd square.

Inspiration comes from the oddest things sometimes, eh?

That's a lot of ship. I like the refit more.

I've got a google SU (or whatever it's called now) of my ship in the works. It's letting me flesh out more details to the ship. Hopefully making it look more Star Trekky.

This made me think about Spock's shuttle in TMP that utilized a warp 'sled' that detached itself so the shuttle could dock with the Enterprise. That would be an interesting design component for a smaller ship that only needs warp occasionally.

This did make me pause and consider it further- but I'm figuring the complexity for such a large ship and it hinders movement by not having warp capability.

I appreciate the idea behind this. You'll note on mine, the shuttle decks are port and starboard. They're also through deck. I'll have some basic interior shots soon hopefully.

A bit, but I thought it was going to have the saucer and nacelles, ventral side.

It will have a primary section and nacelles. This is all I had built to show so far.

I figured...But I meant that I thought they'd be placed ventral, meaning on the underside. Meaning I thought that it wouldn't look so much like a boat, when it was flipped over.

I had an idea for an ubership once similar to Corey Browns.

The idea would be for a third, very flat hull, like McQuarries.
This would be above and behind the saucer, with nacelle supports reaching down.

The secondary hull would be very fat and have taller, shuttlebay-type doors but for larger vessels. Like Ingram, you would see layers of these.
