Tryla Scott is screwed!

Well let's do the math.

Kirk was born on the Kelvin medical shuttle (#37) in 2233.
The main events of the movie take place in 2258 with the arrival of Ambassador Spock from the singularity.

2258 - 2233 = 25 years.

Thus, Kirk is 25 years old when he gets suspended, promoted to first officer, jettisoned off the ship, meets Spock Prime, pisses off young Spock, takes command, and relieves Pike as commanding officer of the Enterprise.

I wonder what planet Tryla Scott saved in a gunfight...

Anyway, I mentioned this in another thread, but Kirk Prime held the record of youngest captain at 31, then Scott came in at 27. Riker was offered captaincy at 29, which would still beat Kirk's record but without saving a planet. ;)

We don't know that Kirk Prime became captain at 31. There are those who believe that Kirk was the captain of another vessel before the Enterprise. It was a common belief in the 1970s and 80s that Kirk captained a small ship, probably a destroyer, first.

That could be, but the point is about asking the pertinent questions, like why Riker opted not to save a planet to gain captaincy.

I believe Tryla got the rank via talent and dedication, not through arrogance and luck. I'd pick Tryla Scott over NuKirk any day.

Does every post have to bash the new Kirk?

I certainly did not know that Tryla Scott was Uhura and Scotty's child, weird.

Ya i guess you're right it was 25 years. I thought it was 25 years until Kirk enlisted, but I guess I was wrong.

Its only arrogance when you're wrong. Otherwise you were the one in the right all along... and I don't know NuKirk and Oldkirk more then likely behaved in the same way. We forget Kirk Prime also cheated on the test which is the whole point and on more then one occasion ignored everyone who thought they knew better to do what he believed is right.

Y-e-e-e-e-e-s...

Unless (as I understand some folks involved with the movie were doing right after it came out just to keep us all guessing) you instead assume that some time had passed between the end of the battle and the ceremony at the end - the one showing Pike in a wheelchair. Apparently that's what some of the Trek personnel were saying in chats right after the movie. We all (including me) assumed the ceremoney came right after the climactic battle, but apparently nobody ever actually says that flat out.

The details were in an earlier thread (a couple of weeks ago, maybe?), but unfortunately I can't find it now.

It sounded to me as though they were trying to avoid criticism, but hey, I could be wrong. Trek is usually pretty good at hedging these little facts, just in case.

No need to worry. Tryla Scott is a very competitive person. In the new reality she makes Captain at 24.

Kirk's 25 when he takes command of the Enterprise in the changed timeline(2233-2258)...but yeah. He's somewhere around two years younger than Tryla Scott was in the old TNG timeline.

Not true; arrogance is irrespective of correctness. Compare Larry Styles, who is terribly arrogant and incorrect, with Jim Kirk, who is (less than terribly) arrogant and correct. Patton, Monty, Rommel, Zhukov? All arrogant as hell.

That said, I'd say Tryla Scott had some arrogance and cock-surity as well, not to mention some luck on her side; to be the fastest to make Captain in Starfleet, you'd more or less have to.

For example,

"Captain Jean-Luc Picard: They say you made Captain faster than anyone in Starfleet history. Present company included. Are you that good?
Captain Tryla Scott: [
smiling] Yes, I am. "

So this...
I believe Tryla got the rank via talent and dedication, not through arrogance and luck. I'd pick Tryla Scott over NuKirk any day.

is a completely unnecessary and unfounded attack.

...I was online today at Amazon trying to buy TFF and TUC because I'm ashamed that I haven't seen them...and it says "this has been discontinued by the manufacturer"....and they are more expensive then they were last time I checked.....does someone know anything about this and why the hell my ST movies (lol that I've never seen lol) be discontinued???........

I think if you look at the amazon.com page for those films, you'll see they're still available to buy, they're just not making new copies. (In other words "rare...buy NOW".)

I suspect the reason is that they may only produce them in blu-ray now, and couldn't care less about the original form of DVD.

Go back there and look again. You'll see you can still order them. The prices are even listed.
