Trying to update my Sony BDP350

ActiveMan

Lieutenant Junior Grade

Hi,
Can anyone help on connecting my BDP 350 to the internet so i can upgrade the firmware. I have tried using a burned disc but all I get is 'no disc' come up. Can i connect it to a laptop with a ethernet cable to access the internet. The laptop is wireless enabled
Thanks

I haven't looked into using it yet, buy my BDP 550 has a usb port on the back. I have nothing to back this up, but I assumed it was for firmware updates via thumb drive. I had a Sharp for about a week that updated that way.

You would need a crossover cable to connect a laptop directly to the player. Can you put the update on a USB key?

Unfortunately the 350 doesn't have a USB port on it. Thanks for the link to the crossover cable. I am sure that is what i have. Stupid question but will the laptop see the player once connected and how do i run the update
Thanx:)

The laptop should recognize the player and give it an IP address if you have enabled connection sharing on the Wi-Fi connection. I don't own this player but the system menu should have a net update function. Consult the owners manual if you can't find it.
