trying to find a doctor who novel

This is a long shot but I've been trying to find a DW novel that I read quite a few years ago. but I've no idea on the author or the title I was hoping if I state what plot I remeber someone may know it.
I read this book oh about 15 years ago and then I don't think it was new even then.

the companion was I think Sarah while I think dw may have been Tom baker at the time

it was based around a group of scientists who were bringing dinosaurs from the past into present day London to cause an evacuation of the city.
these scientists had made a group of people think they were going to start a new world off planet by making them think they were on a space ship. but the scientists were actually going to send them all back into the past to start the human race again.

the only other part i remember was that DW was on an underground station when the scientists sent a pterodactyl to get him.

in the end the scientist get found out but they get back into the past before DW stops them though no one else goes into the past.

I know that's not much to go on but it was a fair few years ago and I was kind of hoping to find the book again as it was a pretty good one.

many thanks if anyone can help.

Doctor Who And The Dinosaur Invasion by Malcolm Hulke - it's the Target novelisation of a 1974 Jon Pertwee six-episode story - you should be able to track down the TV version (under the slightly different name Invasion Of The Dinosaurs) on video or on the net

ETA - oh, and nice avatar. I'm a big fan of the game, and really want to find a nice six- or twelve- inch figurine or statuette of that statue from the Saints' hideout...

dam that was fast and thank you that's exactly what i was after. I shall order it from amazon forthwith.

You might be out of luck - the Target novelisations have been out of print for more than 15 years. You might be able to find a copy at a used bookstore, or on eBay. It was one of only a few Targets to be published in both the UK and the US. There are also, shall I say, unofficial e-books in circulation if you hunt around.

Failing that, an audio book version is available which is a verbatim reading of the entire book, with music and sound effects.

found a version that has a red cover printed 1976 on amazon might get that one.
though the audio book sounds tempting
