How was Enterprise not a prequel?

I'd hardly say Voyager really struck out in unknown territory, given that for the most part it was episodic and generally didn't take any major chances with its formula.

A new series more akin to DS9 I could go for, and at that point I really don't care whether it's set in PrimeTrek or NuTrek land. Neither option will entirely please the fans anyway.

i never meant Enterprise wasnt a prequel, only that it and voyager were both complete revisions. i've never met a prequel i really liked, and enterprise is no exception.

IMO DS9 was ok, but it was merely an extension of TNG. my opinion of "new direction" is new cast, new premise. i consider Voyager my favorite, merely because its the most similar to the OS, it the fact that it is just them vs. the galaxy (or their portion of it).

I definitely would have liked Voyager more if I'd felt that the galaxy (or their portion of it) was putting up more of a fight. Particularly once the Borg were introduced.

But I'm sure I'm not saying anything that hasn't been said before.
