It could very well be that the media of the Tron world are also partially responsible for creating a near mythological figure out of Flynn as well, not only after his disappearance but during his time as CEO of Encom. I think the intent of the writers was as I indicated earlier to make him a Bill Gates/Paul Allen type of figure and as mentioned Encom is basically Microsoft with the video game revolution being akin to XBOX, etc. I suppose that one could dismiss it as being silly but I find that it works in the context of the film's world, and it is also an obvious way to increase Sam's own statue as Flynn's son. Kind of a Joseph Campbell thing going on in Tron Legacy.

Mysterious disappearance after delivering messianic messages might easily ramp up Flynn's reputation and grow a cult following.

So... got the Legacy/Classic DVD pack and can't be more pleased.. The extras are fantastic and really add to the story..

Tronathon at my house began with viewing the remastered original classic.. Instead of giving it the SW: Special Edition treatment, the creators have just balanced the colors and really just made the images sharper.. I love that they mostly left the film alone, but MAN, the film really pops now.. It's lovely to behold.

I had a hard time finding the combo pack around Albuquerque.. finally found one (the last one) at a Hastings halfway across town. The woman at checkout said that they only had been shipped a limited number and that's all that people were wanting to buy.

Tronathon pt. 2 takes place tonight with a viewing of Legacy.. Can't wait..

Just saw Tron Legacy on blu ray. This is my second viewing. It still holds up really well. The visuals, the costuming, the action, the music, it's all top notch. I found the story and characters to be interesting. Not a dull moment.

Just watched this for the first time yesterday on my PS3 through the PS Store (my first movie through it, and it was a great experience) and I loved it. I especially loved the music. I have to admit when I heard that it was the director's first big I was a little nervous, but I was very impressed. I definitely can't wait for the third one. It also had one of my favorite movies scores ever.

I almost watched a movie through the PS3 store today but didn't when I saw that it cost something like $6 freaking dollars.

It was actually just a one time thing I was doing purely out of curiosity. I have Netflix, so it seems unnecessary to rent stuff through PSN when I already pay for a monthly Netflix subscription. Although, I do do the instant watch through my PS3, so I still watch movies and TV shows on it.

Tonight I watched both TRON and Legacy. TRON was presented very well in this release, and looks amazing on BD! Much better than my crappy-looking television experience 15-20 years ago. Gotta say though: TRON's story isn't very, well, good. It's very A to B; really plain.

Legacy was amazing! I think I enjoyed it more at home than I did in the theater. It's a rockin-fun movie. And the soundtrack is pure awesome.

Glad to see positive comments... Still really enjoying the special features, although (and i'm ashamed to admit it), it took me a while to figure out the video game "high-score" screen navigation screen. I'm such a dork...

The boy had lots of homework last night, so Tronathon Pt2 is delayed until this evening..

I am picking it up today at barnes and noble . How are the special features?

:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

also thinking of getting the dawn trader also on blue ray.

They are pretty good.. Lots of "making of" type stuff. If you get the combo pack with the original, re-mastered movie, you get the DVD extras that were on the anniversary edition a few years ago..

The Legacy extras include the full range of mini-"Flynn Lives" stuff packaged as "The Day After" as well as some other cool nuggets including some scenes with the actor who played RAM in the original. I don't want to give too much of that away if you haven't seen it... It also has the brief scene that sets up the next movie for the antagonists.

There is also what amounts to a commercial for the upcoming Tron:Uprising animated series that looks pretty good.

now when you say combo pack the one with the dvd and blue ray both in the same package. or something else ? and what kinda program is stark sopposed to be?

also, hypothecial question for you tron progam vs skynet who would win?

Werent you the one trying to locate a copy of the original? You can buy both without getting the combo on Amazon. Its an extra $8 off if you get both and its 4 discs, including what I have on my 20th anniversary copy. I paid $32 for 2 movies.

RAMA

My comment was more directed at the high prices of streaming things through the PS3 network, not about the Tron movie itself which I will buy the BD combo-pack of next week.

who was hercules sopposed to be in the real world ? and in the original who was ram?
