Pulaski! I was insulted by both characters. Neither one acted like real women...I should know, I am one!

As with others who've stated their love for both characters, I, too, am torn. However, I voted for Bev. Troi's sexiness is always on, as it were, besides which, her job is too specialised. Most of the crew probably have never gone to her, for anything. Sooner or later, though, you're going to have to see the lovely Doctor Crusher whose empathy for her patients, along with her skill, makes her the best physician in Starfleet. I love how smirky she is, I like her sense of humour.

Troi's sweet, but she does seem a bit pretentious. Like she's faking a smile, because it's expected of her, to keep the status quo, when in fact, she couldn't give two shits less what you're on about. Crusher has no such airs ... her concern for the welfare of her patients comes across as very genuine. She really cares and she'll go beyond the cause to keep you going. She even revived 3 frozen, dead bodies, instead of leaving them in stasis, when Data discovered them and had them sent to the morgue. She's for Life and can't be any other way about it ... it's just too damned important to her. I love that about her, I truly do. Bring on Bev, I say ...

What!?! Pulaski???? Pulaski was annoying, judgmental, and racist. One season was about 19 episodes too many for that woman.

But back to topic... Troi. It's really no contest.

Kate Pulaski met Kyle Riker's standards, before he wandered off in search of adventure ... in fact, they almost married! So, despite Pulaski's shortcomings, I'm not as quick to dismiss her, entirely. Besides which, it was mainly the contrast between Pulaski's saltyness and Bev's TLC that made Pulaski seem a lot worse than she probably was. And I must confess to liking her just about as much as I do Voyager's EMH.

I think Gates is a far superior actress, probably due to her theater background, but Marina always received more (and better) storylines. Crusher was under-developed. We have a woman who is not only chief medical officer, but held the bridge rank of full commander from day one of the series. Why did we never see her command the ship earlier on, or at least command some away missions? There is also the very under-explored storyline between Beverly, Picard, and Jack Crusher. So much missed potential.

Troi for me. She was so much prettier and much more friendly. Dont; get me wrong, I liked Crusher as well but for me, Troi wins hands down. She also got a lot more interesting story-lines too IMO!

I've been seeing these threads about them, so I figured I'd start a thread over it. Which one do you like better.

The Dancing Doctor!! A doctor who is a expert choreographer (and in Gates is a choreographer in real life) and is interested in theater. Also I like how she resembles Marcia Cross. But I can do without Wesley. Beverly is also an expert in commanding a starship and a fairly capable fighter. She even has a few technical skills from examining Data. And my favourite episodes are when she disobeyed Captain Picard's orders with no intention to obey them. ("If You'd Give Reasonable Orders, I'd Obey!") :D When Seven (and her knowledge of assimilated starship Captains) joined Voyager, there ended up basically two captains on the same ship getting into arguments. But long before that, Beverly was kinda the second captain of The Enterprise, overstepping her boundaries as CMO just be cause the CMO has limited (medical related) authority over the captain.

I also like Deanna but most of the time she was just completely useless. I never liked her hair styles until towards the end of the show, really during the movies. (It was the only thing watchable about the TNG movies.) I liked her hair up in most of the first season, and the light brown with Bangs she occasionally had during the final one or two seasons. As for episodes, there was only one that I remember liking: Face Of The Enemy. She was perfect in that episode. And it had suspenseful music as well (something much rarer towards the end of the show.) It's too bad she did not get more lines. There is one more time that I liked Deanna: That was in the episode "The Host". During that episode, her counseling sounded much more like Guinan's. When she comforted Beverly it was just beautiful. But that's all.

Make that three episodes: Troi was great in A Fist Full Of Datas. But the rest of the episodes I am indifferent.

Tough call but I'm going with Troi. I think about her turning around in "Fist full of Datas" with the cigar, how great she was when she was inhabited by that angry alien and she, data, and Obrien held 10 forward hostage. Or any episode with her mother which is great.
