I've been seeing these threads about them, so I figured I'd start a thread over it. Which one do you like better.

I liked both but I preferred Deanna Troi. Her centric episodes tended to be dull but as part of the ensemble cast I liked her. She's probably the nicest character in the entire Star Trek universe and we share a devotion to chocolate.

Beverly Crusher didn't get that much development as a character until the last few seasons but I liked her as part of the ensemble too. She had a few centric episodes that I really liked and worked well as a command officer.

I liked Crusher more, Troi is more interesting. I enjoyed the episode where Troi loses her powers and she ain't happy.

I voted for Crusher but I love both. Troi is so nice and she does add to episodes [despite the 'stating the obvious' jokes].

However, I really like Dr Crusher. She is so warm and I wish they had done more with her [particularly a romance with Picard]. I enjoy Bev centred episodes and I think she adds an interesting dynamic to the show.

Dr Crisher is one of my least-favorite characters in the entire franchise.

Troi on the other hand is one of my favorite TNG characters (and she's super-hot). So that's where my vote went.

I like them both but if I have to choose I'd say Troi, it's very close though. I liked when they had scenes together that showed their friendship, I recently watched Second Chances and the scene of them training was so much fun.

I prefer Crusher. I think her strident humanitarianism contributed more to the moral center of the series than Troi. Troi was good in ensemble scenes but she was usually used as a widget to state the obvious.

You gotta go Crusher. Doctor and aspiring play-write? Love it. Deanna always got on my nerves. I love her mom, though.

I'd like to quote this as it's a great point. Sometimes Crusher was a dissenting voice in a sea of harmony on the Ent-D. She would frequently emphasise situations from a humanitarian standpoint [and she wasn't always 'right'] and I felt that added something to the show. Some might argue Troi did the exact same but I think she differed slightly and wasn't as beligerent.

I preferred Troi - but mainly after she started wearing a regular uniform, and in other episodes that took her out of her comfort zone, like the episode where she woke up in the Tal Shiar.

I really wish they had kept her original character concept as a different kind of counselor - more of a political officer.

Is this a "Ginger or Mary Ann" thread? I'd have to say Troi as we've seen the "goods" and good they are.

I took it to be about their characters, but it seems to have been left open enough that if you want to regard it as a beauty contest, then I think that's fine, too - unless the OP wishes to clarify otherwise? :)

It's up to your own interpretation, if you want it to be a beauty contest, make your choice based on that, if you want it to be based off their character, base your choice on that.

Both are good but I like Crusher much better with her relationships with Wesley and Picard (good mix of consistency and change), mix of professionalism and strong personal beliefs and just a lot of good episodes.
