trippiest trips

From the spacewalk in 2001, to Spock's ride threw V'gr...from the STARGATE trip, and the visuals inside the DS9 wormhole, and other "trips" you can think of..what are some of your favorite 'out of of normal' trips?

I always liked whatever Christopher Wadkin saw in BRAINSTORM...and I still love, to this day, the Enterprise warp effect in TMP...rainbow and all!!!

trippiest trips: I told my friend take these... (meaning hold on to to them) but no... what's he do... eat's them.... 4 microdot... this was the early 80's.... now that was a trip... took him 4 hours to walk across a 50 yard bridge... (that concrete thing) sawyed to much ya know... now that was one of the top trippiest trips....

Sometimes it seems like Kegg just always has to be contrary to me, so take that for what it's worth. ;)

^ I think The Fountain is one of those "love it or hate it" films. My hubby thought it was AWESOME. He loved the effects, music and cinematography were incredible, and that's really all he needed to be entertained.

Me? While I appreciated the metaphysical themes and the power of the images, the repetition and interminable third-act had my practically banging my head on the coffee table, yelling "OK, I get it, already!"

Technically, it's a very well made film, but I wouldn't want to sit through it again.

Actually I like the Fountain. But even if it isn't one's cup of tea (which makes sense to me), it is very visually interesting.

And while I enjoy being contrary, I tend to avoid not saying things I mean - but I am attracted to arguments where I can champion the other side, as it were.

TNG's "Frame of Mind" isn't as crazy as some of these other examples, but I always enjoy the ride. I remember being absolutely terrified watching it for the first time as a kid with all the lights out and my parents not home, especially when Riker starts literally "shattering" his reality with those awesome early 90s FX.

Same here, I could appreciate the the film, but I didn't actually like it.

I think maybe the "liquid metal" scene when Neo crosses over in the Matrix would have to qualify.

I also liked, near the end of Dark City, when Kiefer injects "John" with the fake memories and trains John in the process..

I think Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind takes the cake. It's been a while since I've seen it but, man. :cardie: Really interesting use of visual effects.

Eraserhead is pretty trippy (like, a bad trip).

Memento.

Any of Don Hertzfeldt's animations.

The only time I watched Fantastic Planet was back during my reefer days. I can't remember anything about it. Will have to watch it again.

I guess I'm breaking the rules by not limiting to sci-fi, but w/e.

No such rule. As the OP of many goofy threads in my time, I think its great when they slide all over the place. Kind of like real conversations, which seems to be beyond some I guess.

The "Time vortex" opening of Doctor Who with the Fourth Doctor. It's the most eerie of the openings IMO, partially because it lacks the heroic fanfare part that's usually in the end credits.
