Trip & T'Pol: The Good That They Do

Hmmm, my favorite TnT scene... I'm not sure I could pick just one, but one moment that has always impacted me is the kiss in Home.

This wa the episode where I said "ok, these two are really in love". It is hard to imagine T'Pol doing something more significant at that very moment. She is about to marry Koss to save her mom's position in a very Vulcan ceremony in front of very Vulcan people, but she wants Trip. Her heart wants Trip (insert link to conversation with T'Pold in E2 here). So what does our brave science officer do? She KISSES Trip, right there, with God knows how many Vulcans around. Then there is Trip, whose heart is broken into tiny little pieces by this, and yet he is there being supportive, showing her that he cares. And of course, we just heard in the previous scene that he loves her. *sigh*

I know the Similitude kiss is amazingly sweet and moving. I know the Harbinger kiss was the "OMG, they're going to do it!" kiss, and the Bound kiss was T'Pol's way of telling Trip, "I do want you, blondie!", but the Home kiss is just special to me.

I have a couple of moments.

I loved the scene in Zero Hour (or was it Countdown) where Trip tells T'Pol she reminds him of a Renaissance painting. I know I'm mixing it up. It's been awhile since I saw it. It was one of those squee moments.

The second scene that gets me every single time is the final scene of the series (for me), where both of them are grieving for Elizabeth and Trip tells her there's hope they can have another child. I cry every time I see that. So much love and hope, and there's no way anyone can convince me that love diminishes in the future and T'Pol ends up with someone else. It's not possible.

Though the episode hasn't aged all that well for me, that kiss at the end of Home really grabbed me because it was the first one I saw, and it really made me feel sorry for the two of them being cheated of each other like that.

Another favorite T/T scene of mine...

Trip has finally stopped being squirrelly about neuropressure. He's even been practicing his breathing.

T'Pol is impressed.

But Trip is worried about gossip. Malcolm has been teasing him about T'Pol. (Trip, always the gentleman, awww.)

T'Pol is unconcerned. "If we were pursuing a romantic relationship it wouldn't be Lieutenant Reed's concern, would it?"

Trip is reassured. "I guess not."

I enjoyed this scene because it showed a definite progression in their trust and comfort level from earlier episodes. The neuropressure might have begun solely as an act of compassion on T'Pol's part, to help Trip to deal with his nightmares and insomnia--and to be sure, they both entered into it reluctantly. But this scene showed (to my perspective, anyway) mutual cooperation and consideration, a partnership outside of the work environment...a deepening of their friendship.

I remember thinking these two were attracted to each other but didn't want to admit it .Also seeing the pictures from Rogue planet reminds me of TigerKitten's Trip & T'Pol story addition from that episode .

I had that feeling since the decon scene in the first episode, even if I didn't care for the scene itself. Not too long after that Trip was threatening to split her in two, and T'Pol was all mad at Trip for looking through the holographic album with some other alien woman.
