As I read the new adventures of Trip, my imagination seems to want to constantly link him to Sloane of DS9 fame. Is there any vaildity to this contrivnce, or am I just fanwanking?

Trip and Sloan have nothing in common.
Not only are they completely dissimilar as people, they don't really even work for the same Section 31. In ENT's time, S31 is basically an okay organization - they really do work for Earth's best interests. By the time DS9 and Sloan come around, S31 has become what it was destined to be - a shadow organization, accountable to no one, interested only in its own power. Trip would never have worked for them if they'd been that way in his time. Trip is a good man, Sloan anything but.

'Cept most humans don't live to be two centuries (and a couple of decades) old. And Last Full Measure has already provided a glimpse into the future of Tucker, and it seems to mostly involve hiding from people like 31.
