Tribble-ations two episodes

Wasn't it originally the idea to have Worf appear as a TOS Klingon whenever he's on the Enterprise, and nobody would recognize the difference?
Yes, yes it was. As it should have been.

But, regardless, that ship went to Warp so no point in closing space dock's doors. The virus offers all the excuse needed for any variations now, including any attempts to fix it by the Klingons and their surgeons.

Do the two have to be mutually exclusive?
At this point in my Trek journey they feel substantially exclusive. If one wants continuity then it feels strangled. If one wants characters that are enjoyable, then they have to be defined by all the various lines about them that came before, like in SNW and Pike and Kirk. Or Klingons all across Discovery's run.

Because, unlike in the past, were fans got creative and would create workarounds for different variations in design, or changes, or characters, there is not the demand (at least in my experience), that it lines up perfectly. If it doesn't, it must be an alternate timeline.

That's why it feels painfully exclusive. Either continuity is perfectly lined up, or it's an alternative timeline that has to be treated as separate from previous stories.

Shouldn't enjoyment come first? :vulcan:
Well writing consistency and visual are part of the enjoyment for me. Again I understand that continuity errors happen and sometimes cannot be avoided. But the producers of SNW, DISCO have run roughshod over it.

I don't mind set updates for example. But did we really need an ENTEPRISE twice as big as the original and a turbo lift interior that is larger then the rest of the interior of the ship?? Move up the Eugenics War dates? Have half of the TOS characters serve on the Enteprise with Pike? (Which seems more pros acting like Fan boys to me) No we didn't need all that stuff. So it's stuff that bothers me to a point where it takes joy out of the established continuity. So I have to view it as it's own thing and not so much connected to what came before. Just a lot of head scratching decisions....

ANYHOW....To each their own I guess but current Trek for me will never have the impact that previous treks have had on me. Except Picard Season 3 of course.... :)

Yes, we needed it. Why, because for all the time I watched TOS I never knew the size of the ship.

Move up the Eugenics War dates?
Already done in TNG.

Not sure the issue here.

Nonsensical standard is nonsensical. This isn't about impact. There are few films that move me the way that Star Wars did the first time I watched it 30 years ago. Should I stop watching films?

Or, to put it in a more Trek fame of reference, TOS is my favorite series, bar none. The reason I got in to DS9 was because of the "Trials and Tribble-ations" novelizations, and episode and I found myself more engaged with the characters because of the reframe. Should I measure all Trek series by TOS standards? 'Cause, I did that and that's why TNG and TMP will always land lower on my list of Trek series if that is my standard.

If I take them as their own individual thing, tied to past shows but not strictly, then the shared history becomes richer, the tapestry deeper than my fan boy imaginings, and I welcome something new and diverse. To me, that's closer to the spirt of Trek than all the other shows trying to master continuity could ever do.

Mileage will vary.

Well the size of the ship is visually bigger(the bridge alone has to be at least 30% bigger and the captains quarters are about 20 times the size..;).....

Poor TOS Scotty got ripped off with his quarters....lol

you already know I hate the turbo lift interior. I mention it often enough.lol

And has roughly half the crew.

It's only an issue if people want it to be an issue. The point is that in the past people would come up with workarounds. Now it's "LOL! Those stupid writers are stupid!"

If that's the focus of the episode then maybe I could see lamenting this still. Since we haven't seen it in SWN, then I'm going to go with a nonissue, or a continuity error or even the dread YATI that has existed since I started watching Star Trek.

I think at this point fans want to be upset. Mere enjoyment is for mortals.

Just to get back on topic...
Lower Decks works with everything but is a low-hanging fruit.
But I'm drawing a blank on which other crew would -ations another show's episode.

Discovery's crew has to help prevent the Borg from stopping Voyager from destroying the uni-complex.

I'd send the Lower Decks crew. The first episode would be "Carpenter Street", where they would follow Archer and T’Pol around in 2004. The second episode would be "Timeless", where the events would be seen from the perspective of the USS Challenger.
