Trials "Canon"?

Too, I've always wondered what Kirk thought of an officer suddenly coming up to him and stating 'it was an honor'. (Kirk wasn't a legend at that time, actually. His ship carried a legendary name, however).

I'm sure he would have tried to track down 'Lt. Sisko,' and find out who he was...in friendly curiosity.

Kirk's thoughts were elsewhere.

Later,
Kirk: Yes?

Sisko: It's been an honor serving with you.

Kirk: Gabriel Bell !?!?

Sisko: Uh oh.

Robert

No way... after all, Sisko was in disguise (= shaven head & beard) ;)

Kirk: You know, you look exactly like Gabriel Bell... just with a beard and no hair on the head.

Sisko: You mean I'm black.. just like Gabriel Bell?

Kirk: Yes.

A couple scenes they should have done in "Trials And Tribble-ations". F'instance in the bar on the K-7 station.

Bashir: Hey, that's Montgomery Scott, the famous engineer!

Worf: Yeah that's him. Y'know I met him on the Enterprise D when he was an old man taken out of some transporter stasis or something. The old fool kept claiming he'd seen me before, something about choking in a bar. I told him he was a total idiot because I'd never met him before. Besides, Klingons never choke. He was so mad I thought he was going to have a heart attack.

Work laughs and starts taking a sip of his drink.

Bashir: Uh, actually maybe he HAD seen you before, right here and now. He's right over there you know.

Worf chokes on drink.

Later,
Kirk: Yes?

Sisko: It's been an honor serving with you.

Kirk: Gabriel Bell !?!?

Sisko: Uh oh.

Robert

LOL! :guffaw: Brilliant. Love it!

With obvious changes in the timeline, and different scenes because of it, (i.e the line up scene with Obrien/Bashir now included) does this mean that if they ever remaster the remasters they should insert, into TOS, the altered scenes???

You wouldn't have to insert the whole episode...but you know...

Rob

I would be amused if they did. But in TV time travel logic the DS9 time travel hadn't happened yet and the initial event had to occur before the other crew could jump in.

The only thing that might match up outside of DS9's crew getting involved would be the Tribbles falling out of the storage compartment when Kirk is surrounded by them as Dax and Sisko are shown throwing them out.

Gah... this is why I hate time travel! LOL

A question:

If Ensign (or was it Lieutenant?) Freeman, the 'unnamed officer,' and Marlena Moreau were replaced....or at least their actions in that timeline were replaced....I wonder what their 'alternate' actions were?

The scene where Sisko replaced Moreau wasn't suppose to be the actual scene from Mirror Mirror. They just used it for Sisko to meet Kirk.

Too, I've always wondered what Kirk thought of an officer suddenly coming up to him and stating 'it was an honor'. (Kirk wasn't a legend at that time, actually. His ship carried a legendary name, however).

In the novelization of the episode, there is an added scene after Sisko leaves where Kirk turns to Spock and asks who that was. Spock doesn't know, but he does confirm that there was a transfer that happened recently. Kirk pretty much then shrugs it off afterwards.

This is good!

Worf is aloof. During Redemption Part 2 (I think) while on Kronos he clearly saw Sela on the monitor for the first time as she spoke to Lursa or B'Etor. He didn't bat an eyebrow or say to himself, "holy shit, that Romulan looks exactly like Tasha Yar. What the what???" Instead he saunters out the door.

Imagine it as a spiral, not a loop. The events twist the line out of shape, where it was originally straight down :)

I think it's foolish to fuss over Star Trek canon, since Star Trek doesn't follow its own Canon. It is, however, hilarious to watch people come up with possible explanations :p

I think a posters mentioned Freeman and the other officer probably left the area when the fight broke out (in that timeline) so they wouldn't get in trouble.

Freeman simply didn't get into the fight.

Moreau wasn't replaced. She dropped off the chart to Kirk as originally seen, and Kirk hit on her.

Sisko simply dropped off another chart, at a different time.

Too, I've always wondered what Kirk thought of an officer suddenly coming up to him and stating 'it was an honor'. (Kirk wasn't a legend at that time, actually. His ship carried a legendary name, however).

As Captain, he probably has junior officers coming up and kissing his ass all the time.

I'm sure he would have tried to track down 'Lt. Sisko,' and find out who he was...in friendly curiosity.

Nah. Kirk wouldn't give a shit. He's a busy guy.

Joe, also busy

Now THAT would have been funny!

Actually, that scene has always irked me, because it was never part of the original "Trouble With Tribbles" episode. And consider the way Kirk acted in that scene... Marlena was a beautiful young woman, and we're supposed to believe that Kirk was all gooey-eyed and gooey-voiced toward Sisko?

Possibly... but he would have been more likely to try to track down the tall, sexy female officer who smiled at him on the Bridge. :p

:klingon: I must protest! Klingons do NOT "saunter!"

No, I don't consider "Trials and Tribble-ations" to be canon. It's just a fun homage to one of the classic Trek episodes.
