Trials and Tribble-ations

They did effectively ignore the Kli ngon Issue, by more or less ignoring it.

"We do not discuss it with otsiders"

Though, both Bashir and O'brien were right about what it was. When it showed it in Enterprise.

I really enjoyed this episode - I was thinking of how much fun it must have been just to build and walk around the sets...

I think it was definitely and episode for the fans. I watched it with my husband, who only watches the movies and not the TV shows, and he didn't get what the big deal was. I thought it was great.

Loved the interactions of Bashir and O'Brien in this one, and I think O'Brien would have fit right in as an engineer on the Big E. He multiplies his repairs estimates by four just like Scotty.

Wondering what Scotty would have thought of the Defiant decloaking, after seeing his reaction to the Romulans using Klingon ship design in "The Enterprise Incident" (TOS).

Scotty: "That's a Klingon ship!" *dah dah DUNNN!!!*

The Voyager episode wasn't bad, it could have better if they hadn't killed off Valtane after the movie showed him alive, and perhaps better defined the creature that caused the problem. Seeing Captain Sulu again, sweeettt!!!!
That wasn't the only continuity problem. If I remember right, he VOY episode had Kirk at Rura Pente mere days after Praxis exploded, when in the movie it was at least several months later.

Any inconsistencies can be explained by supposing that, in "Flashback," Tuvok's memory was not perfect. Any scenes taking place entirely within someone's memory are automatically suspect...

As for Tribble-ations, I would have loved to see Kira trying to go undercover on the 1701 (obviously not possible because of her pregnancy). To think of what would happen if Kira met Kirk....

Watching this episode has led me to go out and get more episodes on DVD.I hope the rest of the series is as memorable as memory serves on first-run broadcasts.

A vulcan in error, surely you can not be serious.

This was a great episode, and one of my favorites from season five! I loved the way the old and new footage were meshed together; it was wonderful to see Sisko meet Kirk.

And it was nice to see David Gerrold in a cameo appearance. Though I wonder what it says that they put him in a red shirt...

Not his first time in a red shirt:

Gerrold as Hacker, TAS by Therin of Andor, on Flickr

David described the character as looking uncannily like "the writer" in the script's stage directions, so Alan Dean Foster cheekily called the character Ensign Hacker in his "Star Trek Log" adaptation of the Filmation cartoon episode, "More Tribbles, More Troubles".

Was this a worthy salute to TOS and the 30th anniversary in general? I say yes!

I say no.

They screwed up the Enterprise theme when it appears, and that's an inexcusable travesty.

They cut out the very best scene in the whole episode, which is Kirk's confrontation with Scotty.

They should have re-done that scene with O'Brien in it instead of Scotty. That would have been impressive and worthy of TOS.

I loved the episode. Every time I watch it it breaks my heart, though. The original intention was to replace the episode's end credits with a montage a la TOS. You know, like what they did in that Futurama episode?

I wish that a fan would remake the DS9 closing credits in that manner. Actually, the opening credits with Defiant zooming by to Alexander Courage's music would be sweet.

There's two fan edits that combine TTWT and TnT into a single episode.

http://fanedit.org/117/ - version 1
http://fanedit.org/252/ - version 2 by a different editor, inspired by version 1

Download links for version 2 are at sister site http://fanedit.info. Version 1 is currently unavailable.

You know, I was a little disappointed that the remastered versions didn't include the spliced footage of the DS9 characters in the episode. (And, yes, I know, they didn't have perfect matches for every shot, but it would have been an amusing in-joke from my perspective.)
