I'm finding this conflicted Picard of current TrekLit interesting, and I am eager to see how this character will deal with the changing universe.
This is not the self-righteous, preachy character we had from the TNG series, where--by talking--he was able to stop a battle or war....or skirmish.
I just finished reading 'Resistance' which I found pretty interesting...but sad (in regards to the security officers who seemed have had gone on a suicidal mission).
SIDENOTE: There is this Indian security guard (I forget her name) who is described as having coffee skin and light colored eyes...i.e. she is obviously 'hot' but she meets a sad end).
Back to Picard:
He seems to have a certain recklessness when it comes to the Borg; it seems that Beverly--like Lily before her--needs to keep reigns on him.
Again, this Picard is a bit more space-weary...(and the universe seems to be a bit more dangerous since the Dominion War)...
This character is finally conflicted! I like it....and I would like to see how he grows or changes--if he does, especially since he now has a family to take care of.
