TrekLit Jean-Luc Picard *SPOILERS*

Joel_Kirk

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
I'm finding this conflicted Picard of current TrekLit interesting, and I am eager to see how this character will deal with the changing universe.

This is not the self-righteous, preachy character we had from the TNG series, where--by talking--he was able to stop a battle or war....or skirmish.

I just finished reading 'Resistance' which I found pretty interesting...but sad (in regards to the security officers who seemed have had gone on a suicidal mission).

SIDENOTE: There is this Indian security guard (I forget her name) who is described as having coffee skin and light colored eyes...i.e. she is obviously 'hot' but she meets a sad end).

Back to Picard:

He seems to have a certain recklessness when it comes to the Borg; it seems that Beverly--like Lily before her--needs to keep reigns on him.

Again, this Picard is a bit more space-weary...(and the universe seems to be a bit more dangerous since the Dominion War)...

This character is finally conflicted! I like it....and I would like to see how he grows or changes--if he does, especially since he now has a family to take care of.

You aint seen nothin' yet. Be sure to catch "Before Dishonor," "Greater than the Sum," David Mack's Destiny Trilogy, and "Losing the Peace." Picard has a few moments when it seems as if he's becoming seriously, suicidally, homicidally unhinged. Everyone from Beverly to Geordi will have to work to pull Picard back from the brink.

If you like "conflicted" Picard, you'll love what they've done with the character. I think it's a great development. Enjoy!

Heh, heh, heh...

Yeah, I caught 'Before Dishonor'...

Looking forward to the others you've mentioned....!

I loved how Mack added the conflict with Picard at the end of his trilogy. It made Picard seem like he was running out of answers, which I thought would never happen to that character.

***UNWORTHY SPOILER TIE IN POSSIBLE***

Like seven of nine all of Picards borg nanoprobes were not removed. Were they replaced by Caeliar catoms and was Picard offered a place in Caeliar perfection? Has this added to Picards current instability?

^ No to both of the first questions, that is why Seven has such a hard problem dealing with aftermath of Destiny. The nanoprobe are simply gone from both of them and Seven no longer has any of her implants.

This has actually brought stablity to him because there is no longer the lingering Borg in the back of his mind.
