Im a little embarrased calling myself "musician" when all i can do is sing, and I rarely do that in public. But singing gives me enormous pleasure.

Your voice is an instrument. If you sing, you are a musician. Vocalists were musicians before other instruments were used.

^No J., Apple's Garage Band does NOT count!

;)

Hey, Apple GarageBand is only used in post. :D

My favorite "axe," a 2004 Taylor 710-L9:

I'm practically a one-man band these days.

Guitar
Bass
Piano
Vocals
Drums (just started playing those in the last year, and I'm not bad for a beginner)

Let me guess: you played Rock Band and wanted more?

Yeah, I bought a drum set and getting pretty decent at it. I would consider myself as Intermediate as I can knock out the basic beats and I am starting to get good at staggered footwork. I just need to build up leg strength and endurance to move on to the next level.

I am a classically trained Double Bassists, having at my height played for two years in the University Symphony. I mostly play jazz/jam stuff. I am also pretty decent at guitar. People have commented that I am pretty good, but I know people who blow me out of the water, so I keep humble about it.

Seeing as it's not really worthy of it's own thread and this is the only musician thread open, it seems the right place to pimp the quick cover I recorded today. Whole bunch of mistakes and I can't play the big tapping lick after the chorus or the one at the end well enough to record them, but it's better than the last crappy cover I did of this song.

I've been learning to play piano for about three months now and my teacher is continuously impressed at how much I'm "ripping through the material", going much faster than her other adult learners. She also tells me I have "very nice touch and a good ear". I've wanted to learn to play for years and years but feared I was "too old" (I'm 22 now). I got over that, though, and I'm loving it.

I practice a good hour and a half to two hours a day. I go through various chords, Hanon exercises, the beginner adult Alfred piano book and some other material I've been working on, namely Erik Satie's 1st Gymnopedie. After that I hope to tackle John Cage's Dream.

It feels nice to say I play an instrument, to be honest. :) Even if I'm not that great at it yet.
