I also think it's telling that for all the crap it gets, TFF is ranked (currently) higher than the TNG films, Insurrection and Nemesis. My guess is that the original crew is carrying the votes.

Or it could be that The Final Frontier is simply a better movie.

Sometimes it really is simply the obvious!

It's a better movie because it's FUN and also hugely Big Three. And yes the original actors pull in votes for people because they are much more interesting than the TNG actors IMO. They get larger than life as they age whereas the TNG folk (with the exception of Stewart who seems ageless) just get kind of worn out.

INS is a not very exciting bog standard double episode of TNG.

NEM is a bad movie, but more of a movie than INS was.

Wow! Surprised that ST09 is as low as 5, and FC is 3, given what posters are saying about these films in other forums. Also, I can't help but notice that 1-4 are even numbered movies, lending credence to the perception that those films are better than their odd numbered counterparts.

Same here. The Undiscovered Country is actually tied with The Wrath of Khan for my #1. It was the perfect send off for the original crew.

Except the cliche has never been "Trek fans generally like the even films better than the odd ones;" it's always been "Odd Trek movies suck."

One of those sayings is a statistical hypothesis. The other is a fallacy.

The Undiscovered Country is probably my most favorite myself. As much as I love many of them, I feel like the 6th movie is more timeless, and will age much better then others in time.

Also love the themes and plot of the movie, change is always hard, for everyone. The dynamic of the crew has always been great, but in this one I feel it's at it's peak.

I'm in the minority by saying that Star Trek III is my favorite Trek film.

I am actually burned out on that one. Maybe I have seen it too many times? I don't know. I actually enjoy Star Trek III and IV much more these days. IV was always my favorite.
