ST VI is probably my third-favorite, after Khan and the one with the whales. I find it addictively compelling every time I watch it.

What I've always found interesting about The Voyage Home is that so many people like it but can't remember its title.

I've noticed this as well. ;)

Absolutely. It's a surefire test for distinguishing hardcore Trekkies from the rest of the world. Only the most devoted fans actually know the title of that movie.

I've often joked that Paramount should just bite the bullet and retitle the movie STAR TREK IV: THE ONE WITH THE WHALES.

In that case, they should also re-name Spock "The Guy with the Pointed Ears" ...or... "Dr. Spock."

In light of resent feedback on fan opinion from Mr. Pegg and Mr. Orci, I offer a new designation for the Star Trek reboot movies; instead of NuTrek, I suggest . . . FuTrek.

My rankings, leaving out Galaxy Quest:

The Undiscovered Country
The Voyage Home
Wrath of Khan
First Contact
Star Trek (2009)
Star Trek Into Darkness
Star Trek Generations
The Final Frontier
Insurrection
The Search for Spock
The Motion Picture
Nemesis

Seems like Nemesis, Insurrection and The Final Frontier are on the losing end, behind Galaxy Quest.

Are Baird, Frakes and Shatner now allowed to say "Fuck you"?

While I don't feel sorry for Abrams that some fans bash his films, it's kind of interesting that Frakes gets little blame for Insurrection while Baird and Shatner get a lot of blame for their films (Shatner especially appropriately as he came up with the story although he's forgiven for his other contributions).

"Hawaiian Style" was my favorite kind of pizza growing up. But I no longer eat meat so it's just the pineapple ... and other stuff.

I think it's the perfect topping. There's something about the citrusy sweetness the blends so well with the tangy mozzarella.

And, um, the pineapple is Adam West in this analogy, right? Cesar Romero sort of looked like a pineapple.

Yes, this!

It's not a matter of whether they're allowed to or not - it's a free country, they can say pretty much anything they want. I don't think they ever had that reaction to fan feedback though. Granted with the advent of internet and social media, it's much easier for everyone to express their opinion, so those three probably never had such feedback smack them upside the head, but it still seems to be to be a poor reaction. One of the costs of fame and fortune is that your every word (and look) can instantly be sent out for everyone to hear (and see) with no chance for editing or retraction - once something is said, it can never be unsaid. Mr. Orci certainly does get to write the screenplays, and gets millions for it, but along with that, he's responsible for what he says, in a way most of us are not.
Life's full of little trade-offs
