After seeing THIS ranking of Trek movies according to one hundred fans at a convention posted on Facebook and elsewhere over and over as if it's somehow authoritative, I figured we should do our own poll.

I figured the best way to do it was multiple choice. Vote for all your favorites and the best and worst should show themselves soon enough.

I've included Galaxy Quest for the sole reason that they did.

Not knocking you at all here, King Daniel Into Darkness, but the Galaxy Quest is a Star Trek movie thing is not cute, funny or cool anymore (was it ever), it's just getting really boring and tiresome.

Yeah if you wanted this to be scientific or even remotely so in anyway, one as mentioned Galaxy Quest has no reason to be in this, and two... a single poll like this with multiple votes allowed is going to skew results at best. You'd need to have people write their lists and compile them that way for any kind of consensus. Until then, I'll just laugh at any poll including Galaxy Quest being "authoritative."

As I said, I only included it because it was somehow in the poll at the LA Star Trek convention. If it hadn't been on that, I'd never have added it.

I love Star Trek, but I dont have a copy of every movie in the series. But I have Galaxy Quest. That must mean something.

Difficult choice because I do like all of the movies. I do like the TOS movies better than the TNG movies. I chose the Voyage Home. It has always been my favorite. I love time travel movies.

An easier way might be to run individual polls for each film over the course of the next month or so. With a scale of 0 to 10. Each poll open for 1 week. Then just collate the results. In the case of one or more films scoring the same rating, the next highest rating is then taken and so on.

I wonder how many people who've said X-Film isn't real Star Trek voted for Galaxy Quest...

I love Star Trek, but I dont have a copy of every movie in the series. But I have Galaxy Quest. That must mean something.

I don't own every Star Trek film either. But I do own a copy of Once Upon a Time in the West. That must mean something then too.

And it's a hilarious film, I've seen it at least a dozen times. But I didn't vote for it on principle

I own a Blu-ray copy of Galaxy Quest - though overrated beyond belief, it's nevertheless a pretty good comedy movie. Yes, I understand why the OP included it - he did explain. But again, with no disrespect to him at all, the "joke" has become monotonous and dull. The fans who peddle it are not clever or sophisticated.

I think we should all thank God that this list did not come out before the film or a few weeks before the film was released and still showing in cinema . Can you imagine what would have happened or how damaging it would have been to STiD box office earning?


yeah...the news is all over the place. trek web, yahoo, digital spy, the Hollywood reporter, the guardian, screen rant, comic book movie....you name it. this awful list has gone viral.

King Daniel is right...most people now think the list is some kind of an authority list that holds the truth when in reality these people are a vocal minority , Many of them driven by hate.

Am sorry but I don't think I can use any words to describe it but hate.

Can you imagine batman fans putting Batman and Robin as one of the top 3 Batman films or over TDKR?

That to me is the equivalent of people ranking ST V over STiD.

Yes, this utterly ridiculous list does seem to be going (somewhat) viral at the moment, I guess it's possible some damage may be wreaked on home video sales - I really hope not. I'm just disparing of certain fan types sometimes.

Relax, and let people have their opinions. I'd rank STID above Generations, so I don't think it's the worst either. Doesn't mean I'm gonna be upset if I learn a poll of fans disagree. Let people have the freedom of expression.
