TrekBBS "I Love the Eighties!" music video special

Hey, folks! Anyone remember this?

Frog Chorus

(be thankful in the 2000s we had just the one crazy frog... in the 80s there were hundreds of the buggers!)

My picks:

Rush Hour - Jane Wiedlin Chick in LBD with neon bows down the front, playing with dolphins? HAS to be the 1980s... :techman:
Not only was she cute, but she was also a big Star Trek fan. She even made a cameo in TVH.

Totally did not know that! :techman:

OK, a few more:

Dancing on the Ceiling - Lionel Richie (the simple camera tricks still look pretty good!)

True Blue - Madonna - what with this & Material Girl, you might have been forgiven for thinking Madonna voted Conservative in the 80s. :D

(I'd forgotten how hot Madonna was back in the 80s, esp. dressed as Marilyn in the Diamonds homage. Sizzle!)

For some reason the video at that link shows nothing but the song title and group name.
Whoops, you're right, sorry about that. Here's a few more to make up for it.

The Scorps!

Quiet Riot

Queensryche - Speak

Now THIS is an anthem!

Speaking of Michael Jackson
Beat it
though I always liked this version better
Not Beat it but........

Video Killed the Radio Star

Appeared on TV in 1980 as the first video showed on MTV when they went on air.

I know the song is from 79, but I throw it in the 80's since thats when it got put on MTV in the #20 spot and, as I said, their first ever video. Kind of an ironic choice really.

Speaking of this one, the keyboardist went on to form another, much more popular band that had several big hits in the 80's and released a new album a few months ago.
yep
and here they are playing that exact tune live
Video Killed the Radio Star
And here is the former lead singer of the Buggles doing the song live
I spend too much time on YouTube looking at videos

The Warrior

It has everything you need for an 80s video: Bright colors, weird hair and dancers in wild costumes. Plus Patty Smythe was cute.

Every Breath You Take A restraining order waiting to happen.

More music to break up by
Don't You Want Me Baby ( I had a lot of break ups in the 80s ;) )

Cradle of Love
Yeah, it was 1990, but music doesn't pay attention to calendars.

Which why:
1999

Though this my favorite
Rasberry Beret

My 80s Art major/comic geek loves this one:
Take On Me

Going Down To Liverpool ( Yes, that's Leonard Nimoy)

Out Lips Are Sealed

Both the Go Gos and the Bangles broke up right after I saw them. I don't it was my fault though.

Oliver's Army Elvis. (sorry about the Ad)

The Jam, not as well known these days and the videos aren't "flashy" but they had great songs:
That's Entertainment
Town Called Malice

Squeeze was another great Band
Tempted
Up the Junction

Or the rock steady beat of Madness!
One Step Beyond
Our House

Oh yes... oh yes! :D

I used to know all the words to that. :D
Good mood music. Definitely. :)

:guffaw: An absolute winner there. And speaking of which:
"Two Tribes" - Frankie Goes To Hollywood - a video that absolutely screams out "THIS IS THE 80s!" in big neon loghts 30 feet high. :klingon:

Another favourite, and personally Paul Weller's most underrated work:
"Walls Come Tumbling Down" - Style Council :bolian:

Of course, by the end of the 80s, not everyone approved of the direction Paul Weller was taking, and very soon one could hear the cries of "Kick out the Style, bring back the Jam!" as was the case in this next song:
"Sowing The Seeds Of Love" - Tears For Fears
(the fine band at their finest and absolutely not trying to sound like a certain influential 60s rock band at all, no, honest... ;))

Alan Parson's Project - Don't Answer Me

Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Relax (Don't Do It)

The Power Of Love

ZZ Top-Legs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTXmJfHUj7g

Erasure - Love to Hate you
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvJFISiEE9Y

Pet Shop Boys - What Have I Done To Deserve This?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x97ijcgBy0Q&feature=related

Duran Duran - The Reflex
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQnqNLeiWKw&feature=related

Paul Simon - You can call me Al
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOiVaE-pKqM

Philip Bailey & Phil Collins - Easy Lover

And the song almost everybody does air-drums to:
In The Air Tonight

The "kids-sing about a lion"
tight fit - the lion sleeps tonight

That wasn't the one I was thinking of. I looked up last night, it was Tarzan Boy by Baltimora, and has no mention of lions  Typical caravan park music.

Erasure - Love to Hate you

I have that cd album too from '88 I think it was :) The cd has a pretty two-texture pattern all in silver. One of the prettiest cd's I've seen. :bolian:

Other favourites:

Talk Talk -- It's My Life
(and I like the Gwen Stefani version too.)

Martha and the Muffins -- Echo Beach

and who can forget INXS - Need You Tonight
