I got David Wright with the 7th pick, which confused me, as he was probably #3 overall. Even MORE shocking, I was only one pick away from getting Miguel Cabrera on the way back. He should have been 7th overall, give or take, and I almost snagged him with the 18th pick? :wtf:

I pinched myself. I thought it was a dream. Then I grabbed him with the 17th pick. If you are interested in him, send me a trade offer.

I thought that was already a given.

I have a question and I want everyone in the NL league to be honest. Say I picked ARod with the first pick and the draft turned out as well as it did rounds 2-23? Was it a good draft?
 
What does your team look like? Alas, I wasn't there at the draft to praise and admonish anybody ('cept for the whole A-Rod Draft Incident of 2008 ;) ).
 
Got to admit in the Yahoo NL League, auto draft did a great job for once!

My pitching is going to be hard to beat with the trio of Halladay,Santana and Beckett. Got the old gem Rivera to pick up saves.

The offense is carried by Morneau, Beltran, and Delgado.

I'm expecting great things from this team.

I looked over your roster, but I couldn't come up with any trade scenarios that would benfit both of us. If I do decide to improve my position in holds, I think I'll look at free agency- there's quite a few decent prospects available there (it's a category that tends to get overlooked).

Your pitching is great if it stays healthy.
Morneau and Beltran are nice, but Delgado isn't even among the top rated at his position (#22 at 1B according to a combination of a few fantasy sources). He's easily matched by plenty of other guys offensively. It's not a bad start, but if you compared that trio to the top trio offensively of a couple of other leagues, it's about what most teams should be able to field.

Rivera is pretty solidly entrenched, but he had a mere 30 saves last year. I picked up the Marlins' Gregg in May last year and in less than a full season as closer, he had more saves than Rivera did.

In a 12-team league, everybody's going to have some good players. Those guys are a decent start, but always be ready to make moves and make your team better.
 
Draft went ok. I'm fairly happy with my team, but I'm not predicting championships or anything. It's a long season and there will be many moves to make. Those will decide how things go. The top couple of teams from last year look to be the likely top batch of teams again so far.

I'm going to work on the stat projections for later in the week. Just kind of fun to see how things project out. Last year, the top couple of playoff teams in each league were predicted by the projections, even without in-season moves being accounted for.
 
eh, since I enjoy shit-talking, I'm going to go ahead and predict a Championship for the Evil Monkeys this year. I've got a pretty good squad, and against the current matchups, I like my chances... :)

Not quite sure about my draft yet, I am happier about my starting pitching than last year and knock on wood I hope my ace Bedard does not go down like Carpenter did last year. My one weak area for sure is saves, so might looking to trade for an extra closer if any one is willing to deal.
 
Got a little flusterd in the draft. Having a bunch of autodrafts coming just before me on one side of the draft kind of threw me off. I'd have a list of players I thought about drafting that round, and in a matter of seconds, most would be gone. If it wasn't for sportskid giving a little bit of a time break, I would've been even more screwed up. But he was quicker than I expected: Most of the time I was still undecided when my clock started ticking.

After that funky start, the ESPN draft did go quickly, though. Too quickly, in some ways: I had no excuse to not go into town and meet up with all the drunken peeps I had left earlier that day.
 
I totally forgot about the draft last night, but I generally like who the autodraft picked for me. I would like some more depth at OF and Pitching so I'm open to some trades. I seem to have an abundance of 2nd basemen and shortstops, so I'd be willing to part with a couple of players at those positions.
 
Just a reminder the Yahoo AL league drafts tonight at 8:15 pm eastern.

Also since we did not have 12 teams in our league as of today Yahoo had changed our starting week to week 2, which is April 7th. However I just emailed them to ask if we can get back to week 1 since we are going with a 10 team league.

Yahoo AL- did the draft happen? I got held up at work, and when I just logged in it doesn' tlook like anyoen has any players...
