TrekBBS banned my work

It's probable that a past or current employee at your workplace was a TrekBBS troll.

When I read the thread title, I immediately thought, "It's usually the other way around." Youtube is banned from my work. Anyway, hope you get it sorted out.

In all seriousness though, it's probably worth dropping Bonz or Spiff a PM, preferably with details of the IP address that's banned, so they can check out what's going on.

We can't have you actually working at work, you know.

I agree!!

Another thing could be- some ISPs give groups of people blocks of IPs, not a single static one... and it could be that a troll used one, was blocked, and that one is now being used by your company.

Maybe it's a banned member FROM THE FUTURE!

Or maybe it's BBS minority report: bonz actually spends her days semi-submerged in a shallow pool attached to electrodes, predicting future trolls and scoundrels and preemptively banning internet wrongdoers!

Well, at least that batter than Mr. Maxwell's technique.

New users are not thoroughly screened before being allowed to post. This "person" has been identified, taken out back, and shot. You have nothing further to fear.

I started a new job last week, and today I decided to bring in my laptop. The IP address at my job is banned by the TrekBBS! How the heck did that happen?

This usually is true of proxy servers, to prevent people from registering untraceable dual accounts.

My first thought is that your place of work is routing through a proxy server.

My second thought is to wonder why would they need to be set up like this unless there are nefarious goings on?

If the network is made accessible to the public, that setup would be understandable. (owners are initially accountable if illegal things are accessed from the network)

Click here and see what spyber has to say about your IP address. Then report back.
