OK, I can reveal now that I have a cameo in the new movie. I have no lines but just a walk through.

There is a scene where Kirk is walking through a corridor to get to the turbolift and he walks right past me.

Yup, I play a race of invisible humanoids called the Nullenvoids. You can tell I am there by the slight distortion as Kirk walks past.

I think we may see one or two surprise cameos from TNG, DS9 or maybe even Voyager cast members in the 24th century scenes before Spock goes back in time. The tie-in comic prequel already suggests TNG era characters.

I hope so. I think that would be a cool treat for long time trek fans and as long as they have something to do with the story I dont think a short cameo would confuse even a person who has never seen a second of Trek before.

This part of the Wiki article intrigued me:

Chris Doohan, the son of the original Scotty, James Doohan, makes a cameo appearance in the transporter room. Pegg has e-mailed Doohan about the role, and the actor has promised him his performance "would be a complete tribute to his father".

If Chris is impressed with Pegg's performance, then my last doubt has been removed.
Also:

Paul McGillion auditioned for Scotty, and he impressed producers enough that he was given another role in the film.

I thought he would have been the better Scotty, so I'm anxious to see his appearance.

My vote would be for Patrick Stewart to play Fleet Admiral Picard.
