The Defector is one of the first episodes of TNG that I fell in love with. The scene in the captain's ready room when Jarok tells Picard about his daughter is one of my all time favorite moments in Trek. It's brilliant and heartbreaking. That episode is when TNG clicked for me.If you're looking for good politics-oriented episodes that aren't necessarily relevant to this election, TNG's "The Defector."
