Trek recommendatons for Gilmore Girls fans

Hello all,
Bit of an unusual question here. Not sure if this is the right sub-forum for it, but I'll give it a shot. I'm your typical crazed TrekBBS user with pictures on my wall of me with the entire TOS cast and such. My girlfriend, however, has never really watched much Trek and has had some bad experiences with crappy sci fi in the past. She's of the opinion that sci fi is defined by guys with weird heads and ray guns.

She's tried some TOS but found it a little slow, trying TNG now where she found Tapestry good but The Offspring too slow paced for her liking. I'm trying to think of episodes of any of the series that appeal more to her taste. Her favorite shows are Gilmore Girls and One Tree Hill, which she says she likes because of the fast pacing, good snappy dialogue, etc. So to that end, are there any of you who like those shows (or perhaps have significant others who do) who came to appreciate Star Trek, and are there specific episodes that you think would go with those tastes? If someone who's a diehard Gilmore Girls fan tells her she will definitely like so-and-so Trek episodes, she'll weight that a lot more heavily than my opinion and will probably give it a more of a shot.

Thoughts?

In all honesty none of the Trek shows ever had dialogues as good as those in Girlmore Girls.

Maybe she'd enjoy some of the TNG episodes that focus more on the crew interaction. All Trek shows had some fun episodes like that. Look for something that isn't just all about some scifi plot.

Fun question. Try Voyager's "Future End" two-parter.

It's a fun time-travel adventure with plenty of humor and some sparking romantic chemistry between Tom Paris and specially guest-star Sarah Silverman. (I will go to my grave insisting that Paris had more chemistry with Rain Robinson than he ever did with B'Elanna.)

Another option: "Relativity" (VOYAGER). A fast-paced time-travel romp with plenty of snappy banter and amusing time paradoxes.

I actually started up a list of episodes that might come close...but, upon review, none of them really fit the bill. Star Trek just doesn't have the same style as Gilmore Girls and One Tree Hill.

Perhaps you would have more luck finding a show that you could begin together...? There are a number of shows that might fit your description of a need for "snappy dialogue" and "fast pacing." I can pretty much guarantee that she would enjoy Veronica Mars, for instance.

On the fantasy/horror side, Supernatural might work. On the sci-fi side, you could try Firefly, though it was rather short-lived, and Greek (for more of a non-genre show) would probably keep you both interested. Fringe (pseudo-science/sci-fi) might also fit the bill, though it took a while for that show to really get to the good stuff.

Greek is a show you both would love. Besides the last season, which felt off. However if she liked season six of Gilmore Girls she will love it.

Of the Trek series I'd say Enterprise has the "snappiest" modern dialogue (TOS is snappy but in an older style). The 2-hour pilot is probably as good a way as any to evaluate the show. (If you have the Klingon collection, it's on that.)

Of other sf shows, I'd recommend Eureka, a recent sci-fi dramedy that should appeal to both sexes. I'm currently in the middle of a rewatch and loving it.
You can check out the pilot here (we don't meet any of the main characters until about 2.5 minutes in):

Doyle (Danny Strong) also first appeared that season after years on Buffy - I'm guessing that's not a coincidence.

Of all the Trek series I'd think she'd be most likely to enjoy Voyager. There are certain characters (like the Doctor) that have great dialogue. To me it is the funniest of all the series.

Perhaps you should first interest her in sci-fi shows specifically targeted at women? I've successfully gotten one of my ex who wasn't interested in sci-fi shows hooked to shows like Being Erica and Hindsight. Once she's overcome her bias against sci-fi shows, then introduce her to Trek.
