Steele has been popping up in the background a lot lately in stuff I've been watching. He's the gunny in Rio Bravo (which I watched the other day) whose reins Dean Martin shoots from his hands. He was also in the very, very bad The Atomic Submarine, which I found on Shout Factory a few weeks ago. Checking his IMDB listing, he's been in about a thousand westerns going back to the 40s!
I thought it a poor remake of the Wild Wild West with Shatner playing Ross Martin...but I watched it anyway. It looks like 'Get TV' is now airing episodes of William Shatner's post 'Star Trek' series 'Barbary Coast', starting today with the pilot movie. I've heard about it discussed on these forums so it will finally be a chance to see what everyone has been talking about. One thing I have noticed is that the interior of Cash's saloon is a slight redress of the saloon from the movie 'Westworld'.
William Schallert also turns up as the local Doctor treating Robert Scott Carey in the classic fifties film The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957)

Has anyone mentioned William Schallert as Mayor Sterling Norris in True Blood?

Or Jay Robinson as Dr. Shrinker?

I remember it well."Doctor Shirinker, Doctor Shrinker, he's a madman with an evil mind
Doctor Shrinker, Doctor Shrinker, he's as crazy as you'll ever find...",

Probably wrong here but I thought I heard some time ago, Schallert held the record for most TV appearances at one time. I heard him once talk about being on the I Love Lucy show and how demanding she was. He had a good sense of humor from the interviews I saw him in.
