trek guest actor trivia

john titor

Captain
Hey I just noticed a few incredible things, lex luthors father in Smallville appears in the DS9 episode Invasive Procedures. Also commander Shelby re-appears as the leader of those aliens who wear those ridiculous suits in that episode where picard and crusher can hear each others thoughts. She also plays a cardassian who built DS9. Tim Russ/Tuvok appears in a Fresh Prince episode as an FBI agent investigating the whereabouts of a radical who stays with them temporarily. Also the 80s guys in Short Circuit 2 appears as the psychotic clown in that VOY episode. He also appears as a government official who swaps bodies with Mulder in an X-Files episode.

A whole load of wrong on the Cmdr Shelby thing. The actress, Elizabeth Dennehy, never reappeared in any Star Trek.

The "Short Circuit 2 80s guy" is Michael McKean, most famous for "Spinal Tap" but my fave role of his was Mr. Green in "Clue".

I'll add some more trivia on random Trek guests as well then!:

Christopher Collins, who played the Klingon Captain in "A Matter Of Honour", and the lead Pakled in "Samaritan Snare" (as well as a couple of smaller roles on DS9) was also a voice actor and played Starscream, Wheeljack and Sparkplug in the original 1980s "Transformers" cartoon. He was also on GI Joe.

Michael Bell (Groppler Zorn in "Encounter At Farpoint", as well as a DS9 ep as a Bajoran) was also a voice actor and appeared as Prowl, Swoop and Bombshell in "Transformers" (as well as numerous other TFs) as well as GI Joe and Rugrats.

Leonard Nimoy of course, voiced Galvatron in Transformers: The Movie (1986). He's married to an actress called Susan Bay (who appeared as an Admiral in DS9's "Past Prologue"), who is related to director Michael Bay, who made the two recent live-action Transformers movies. Leonard even lobbied Michael to play the voice of another Transformer in May, but by then it was too close to the "Revenge Of The Fallen" premiere date.

Yep, you guessed it. I'm a Transformers fan as well as a Trek fan :techman:

It's fun watching 60s shows on DVD and spotting Trek actors, especially when there's more than one in an ep. I've been watching Mission: Impossible, Hawaii 5-0, Wild Wild West, The Invaders, Man From UNCLE, Mod Squad, Hogan's Heroes...

Just saw an Invaders with Barbara Luna last night, a Hogan' Heroes with Antoinette Bower the day before, a Mission: Impossible with Jack Donner....

Absolutely.

That's kind of what I love about 60's TV in general. So many great actors jumping from show to show, kind of like De Kelley with the old westerns. I truly believe these were some of the actors who helped to legitimize television even further. They were strong character actors who dedicated themselves to the medium.

They are actors-you can find them all over. My dad and I, for years, used to find TOS guest stars in other old shows and movies.

Tim Russ is also spending some of his time playing the school principal on the kid's show iCarly, on Nickelodeon. He also played a doctor on Hannah Montana.

(I have two daughters. I'm not some wierdo who watches them on my own. ;))

I watched the reboot of Friday the 13th last night (by the way, don't) and I didn't realize until later that Jason's mother was played by Nana Visitor.

columbo has a few of the tos actors appearing in it ones that come to mind are nimoy shatner and the actress who played T'pring. though i think the actor who played chekov was in a columbo episode too.if you want to include fan productions Barbara Luna was in a phase 2 ep as was walter ??? who plays chekov and goerge takei playing a older sulu. also though i could be wrong but i think the guy who played commodore decker in 'the doomsday machine' was in a phase 2 episode.of course you've got old sulu in 'green berets'. you've probaly guessed i'm not too good with names.

I've been having fun with just watching Gunsmoke. Watching the first season of it from '55- DeForest Kelley was in it just last night. He had longer hair and a beard in it and let me tell you he just looked odd. Poor guy didn't make it 10 minutes into the episode before being killed offscreen. Another first season one had Barry Atwater too. Also saw Kelley in a Bonanza. In a 1970 Gunsmoke the guest star kept looking vaguely familiar to me. Couldn't figure it out until the credits- Salome Jens- I see why I didn't recognize her. :) Twilight Zone is fun for this too.

Harris Yulin, who plays Marritza in the DS9 episode "Duet," played Judge Stephen "The Hammer" Wexler in "Ghostbusters II" and Watcher Quentin Travers in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."

Ronny Cox, who played Captain Edward Jellico in "Chains of Command" (TNG) played Dick Jones in "RoboCop," Vilos Cohaagen in "Total Recall" and Lt. Bogomil in "Beverly Hills Cop."

Wallace Shawn, who played Grand Nagus Zek in DS9 played Vizzini in "The Princess Bride," Rex the Dinosaur in "Toy Story," and Stewie's brother Bertram in "Family Guy."

Michelle Forbes Ensign Ro Laren and Dara (Timicin?) in TNG, Admiral Cain in BSG, Sonni/Solita in The Guiding Light, Maryanne in True Blood
