Trek episodes that were never made

I've heard of #3 (time-traveling Alexander), none of the others which is surprising as I'm usually keen to take notice of "untraveled roads" like this.

As for #10...., I can't help but think some kind of Porthos-centric story would have helped make his presence make more sense, but it would have to be a "perfect 10" story, or it would have just made the whole idea worse.
(Somebody in the comments mentions a "day in the life" type episode, where we follow him around as he sees different crewmembers. That might have been interesting).

(Love your avatar by the way, I've long wanted to tackle such a project, but seeing how good that one looks I'm not sure if I should bother. Maybe the bridge of the SDF-1...)

Happened upon this interesting little tidbit earlier today. I had never heard about most of these before. Was this common knowledge that, as a major ST fan, I should have been aware of?

Sure, some of those are very common knowledge. Check out Memory Alpha for descriptions of all the other unused "Phase II" scripts and script treatments. I saw bootlegs of "He Walked Among Us" at a New York convention in January 1984.

Keep in mind, some of those "episodes" listed wouldn't have been more than "pitches" that the writers were then asked to formalize in script treatment form - and probably didn't progress much further.

They don't sound any worse than some of the junk that actually made it into production.

Kind of odd that they didn't mention one of the most famous 'almost was' Trek stories, that being the sequel to 'A Piece of the Action' in which they return to Sigma Iotia II to find that the inhabitants are all now Trekkies. Brilliant.

Not to toot my own horn (he said, blowing away), but I've reviewed quite a few of these. The article links to a couple of my synopses (thanks, whoever you are).

Just follow the "script review" link in my sig if you're interested in more "What might have beens." They'll be down the page somewhat.

And it is picking nits, but their review of "Rock-A-Bye" is inaccurate. The "Crocs" don't run a planet for the criminally insane, there are two humans there who are to be sentenced to such a planet -- the Enterprise is going there to pick them up from this idyllic world to transport them to the looney planet.
