Well, that's interesting. I just tracked down that panel of Kirk and Carol in the original comic, and Kirk actually is saying "Watch me!" there, which is just what I had him say in my caption. Maybe I subconsciously remembered it, or maybe Swan drew Kirk's pose and expression so well that you can tell (along with the voice bubble only big enough for a couple of words) what he's saying.
